It's hard to believe that Norman has been working for one whole month already! But, we've got the five weekly paystubs from February to prove it. It is so very nice to have a steady income coming in once again! Plus, we never once had to dip into our savings account during the whole month, so I think this job is a keeper.
Norman thinks so, too... now.
His first day at work went really well. On his second day, he came home and said that he was ready to quit. J
The guy who is training Norman, and who will be quitting his job in a couple of weeks, was overwhelming Norman with all of the negative things about working for this particular company. Of course, all companies have their own problems, but no one really wants to be bombarded with them all in one day. After that, Norman decided that the good outweighed the bad and has determined to make the best of it. Besides, he has already come up with ideas to improve the company. I think that Norman will become a real asset for the company.
Besides providing a regular income for our family, this job has other benefits as well. Here are a few that have been answers to prayer:
1. Regular working hours/no overtime. Norman works from 8:00 to 5:00 with 1 hour lunch. Some of the jobs that Norman looked at had the different shifts with beginning employees having to start out with the "graveyard" shift. So we are thankful that this job allows Norman to be home with us of an evening and on weekends.
2. No working on Sundays! This was very important to us. As a computer technician, Norman became aware that with many of the jobs available, he would have to be on call on Sundays. He did not want to miss church services, so this job works out well since he only has to work Monday through Friday.
3. Norman travels to other towns to fix copiers and fax machines, so he uses one of the company cars. Since we live in town, he gets to bring the car home. This means that I have access to our van whenever I need it during the day. Before, I had to wait until Norman got off of work/out of school before I could run my errands or go shopping. This is a big plus for me! J
4. He gets to bring home fun electronic gadgets that don't work anymore to tinker around with. Here is a copier that he let the boys tear down:
To Norman, he's finding this new job to be challenging and rewarding. To our boys, it's pure "Electronics Heaven"! J
