Once again, it's time for corn dogs, the butter cow, and whistling contests.  Cotton candy, fresh lemonade, and the big yellow slide (okay... and grain bins, too!)    All of this and more can be found at the Iowa State Fair, which is going on right now.  But... we won't be going this time. 

This year we opted to go to Iowa's big theme park, Adventureland, instead.  The boys had never been there before, so when we had the chance to get discounted tickets earlier this year (thank you, Marcia!), we jumped at the chance!  And, as an added bonus, my cousin, Shonya, and her family decided to go with us.  Our big day of fun was July 4th, which turned out to be a beautiful day… both weather- and companion-wise!

So, when we get to missing the Iowa State Fair, we look back and remember our favorite things at Adventureland and we don't feel... so... sad.
