When a friend gives you a boxful of luscious concord grapes, make... well, it depends on which son you talk to. The “hands-on” 9-year-old boy says, "Let's make jelly!", to which his mom replies, "Hmmm... let's make juice instead."

My husband's mom grew grapes in their So. Cal. backyard and he has told me stories of how he had to help (along with his younger sister) make the juice every year. My mom never canned anything, to my knowledge. Guess who is the better cook in our house?
What good lessons your kids learn when they help alongside you with kitchen work. Invaluable!
