...and where it stops, we do not know!
I feel it's time for an update on our "moving" experience, but I'm afraid we don't know much more than we did before. It's hard enough getting things straight in our own minds, let alone on paper, but here goes...
Our House
It is pretty much sold. The buyers' loan has gone through and they are now waiting for us to have the termite inspection done and the new abstract typed up. We found out why they were so anxious to have us move out. Their pre-loan agreement is set to expire at the end of February. If they don't buy a house before then, they will lose their lower fixed interest rate. So, since we don't have a place to move to yet and our real estate contract stated that our closing date isn't until the end of March, we have agreed to let them buy our house at the end of February and then we would rent "our" house through the month of March. Seems weird, but I guess it will work.
Our "New" House
No, we don't have another house picked out yet. If fact be known, I'm sick of looking at houses. Plus, we don't know if we should be looking at a house to buy or a house to rent. Norman is still on unemployment and we don't know if we could even get a loan, although we do have money to put down on a house and we have an excellent credit rating. After looking at ads in the paper for rentals, we are thinking that buying a house would still be cheaper than renting. Also, we live an hour away from the town that we are wanting to move to and it's just hard to get over there and do some serious looking. I know... I know... we're running out of time.
Norman's Job Situation
Norman still doesn't have a job, but one of the companies that he applied at called him for an interview on Wednesday. It's a meat-packing plant. It's not really what he was wanting, but it's a job, nonetheless. Anyway, he went in yesterday and took a test and they gave him a tour of the plant. He did well on the test and now he has to take a welding test at the college on Monday or Tuesday of next week. This all sounds favorable, but Norman is still debating on going back to school and learning a new trade, like networking. If he chooses to go to school, classes begin next Wednesday. He will need to decide RIGHT AWAY! Also, we're not sure if we can survive on unemployment while he is going to school. We're having troubles "counting the cost" since we don't even know where we will be living and what our expenses will be. Plus, we're concerned about health insurance coverage.
Confusing? We think so, too! :-) Please keep us in your prayers.

If you already know the town you're going to be in, then I would definitely recommend going ahead and buying a house if you can. Perhaps just looking for a really good deal, a fixer upper, or anything that's not too much money for the meat-packing job or being a student. Renting is not cheap! A mortgage (with the right house) is usually a lot cheaper on the monthly pocketbook.
If you're worried about being able to get a loan, then perhaps you can get pre-approved by a lender? I would recommend not going with lendingtree.com though as my sister as well as others have had problems with some of the companies that bid through them.
Praying for wisdom and encouragement for you and Norman!
Love,
Marsha
