Ward's Sward... Where the Grass is Always Greener

• Feb. 25, 2006 - We are Moving!

Before I get into our moving schedule, I just wanted to say that Norman has started his schooling at the community college in the city that we are moving to.  He started last Wednesday and the course will run for 21 months.  Classes are Monday through Thursday, so he gets Fridays (and weekends) off.  He has decided to take Computer Networking and Security.  He had thought about taking Computer Programming, but those type of jobs all seem to be going overseas anymore, so he decided to get into a field that can only be done here.  So far, he seems to like his classes; but then, he has ONLY been going for 2 days.  J

And now, "moving" on...

We had a little trouble getting a loan.  The bank said that Fannie Mae rejected our loan offer because Norman has not been in his present job for 3 years (he is currently unemployed).  But with our excellent credit rating and other proofs that we were a good risk, the local bank decided to give us the loan instead.  Our loan officer was very nice and I believe she bent over backwards, so to speak, for us.  We are very thankful it went through, especially since I had already emailed all of our family and friends to tell them about our new house.  J

So, when do we move?  This next week!  Wow!  When God gets things moving, He gets things moving!  On Tuesday, we are supposed to close on our house.  And the closing date on our new house is supposed to be this next weekend sometime.  We have already rented the moving truck for next Friday and Saturday, so if the house isn’t ready to close on by then, we should be able to sign an occupancy-something-or-other and go ahead and move in.  We ordered the new carpet and our new refrigerator, which both were cheaper than we thought that they’d be.  The carpet is scheduled to be put in on Tuesday and Wednesday, and we can pick up the refrigerator on Friday when we have the truck.

It is going to be a very busy week!  We have already been boxing things up… and throwing stuff away.  Plus, I have officially declared the next 2 weeks as a vacation from our homeschool.  Although the boys are excited about moving, this bit of news just made their day!  J

I think Norman chose an excellent field. It can only grow (and - as you pointed out - won't be shipped overseas). I'll continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers during the move and all the other changes happening in your life. :-)

How COOL. God is awesome! FYI yor local grocery's produce section is a great source for good sturdy boxes, with handles. I am especially fond of tomato and apple boxes. =)

Here's a tip. Burger King French Fry Boxes are a nice size, and they always have tons and tons of them! Their FF boxes are about the size of a file cabinet (one drawer). Since you can get tons of them they'll pack well on top of eaach other.
Happy Packing!
