Giveaway! The Nature of God in Nature DVD's - Hawaii and the Lake District
LEAVE A COMMENT ON TAMI'S BLOG TO ENTER THIS CONTEST:
http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/Tami/601172/

A few weeks ago I reviewed two new DVD's from the series, "The Nature of God in Nature." I enjoyed the DVD's, as did my family. I wanted to give another family the opportunity to see these DVD's, so I am giving away the two copies that I previewed.
To enter the contest, please copy the following paragraph to your blog or send it to your email list. Come back to this post and leave a comment and a link to the post on your blog or leave a comment that you sent a note to your email list.
"Discount Home School Supplies is giving away two DVD's this week. You can win a copy of The Nature of God in Nature: Hawaii and The Nature of God in Nature: Lake District. Read more about these DVD's on Tami's Blog. "
I will leave the contest open until next Monday night (October 13) at 10:00 pm EST. At that time, I will pick a random number from the number of entries. The contest is open to residents of the United States. I am sorry that I cannot send this internationally at this time. If you are from another country and can have me send the DVD's to a US address, you are welcome to enter. I have had some bad experiences lately with custom's tarriffs.
This is a new product by a Christian publisher. Please take a moment to check out his website at www.onemustardseed.com.
They are also available on my website for $12.95 each.
Have a blessed day! Tami

Homeschool Website and Scholarship Program, Tri-Cities, WA and On-Line for All Over!
Homeschool website and scholarship program
I have owned and managed a homeschool website in Tri-Cities, WA
for a few years. The website provides information and resources for
new homeschoolers and newcomers to Tri-Cities.
Recently, I opened an online store which sells curriculum,
educational, parent / teacher resource books, gift items and household
items. I have not added all the curriculum available out there because
there is sooo much, but for now there's a good selection to choose from.
A portion of the sales from the online store go to a scholarship fund
for our local homeschoolers. Our goal is to eventually offer a
scholarship to other homeschoolers in WA state. If you are planning to
purchase curriculum or gift items, I hope you will consider shopping
at this store to help support the scholarship program.
Here's the link to the website http://homeschool-3-cities.com/
Or, go directly to the online store here

Washington Aerospace Scholars- A Program for High School Students
From: Melissa Edwards <MEdwards@museumofflight.org>
Subject: Washington Aerospace Scholars- a program for high school students
Hello-
I wanted to take a moment to let you know about the program I administer: Washington Aerospace Scholars. In June 2006, Governor Gregoire and Superintendent Bergeson first announced the creation of Washington Aerospace Scholars, a program based at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, which encourages high school juniors from across Washington State to explore the challenges and opportunities awaiting them in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. Through this free program, students learn about the many options for careers, as well as address the national shortage in engineering, math and science fields.
The program is divided into two components - the online curriculum and the summer residency. Phase One, distance learning using a NASA-designed online curriculum, consists of ten lessons and a final project. To be considered for Phase Two, the summer residency, students are expected to meet deadlines and show mastery of the Phase One curriculum. The Museum of Flight hosts each weeklong summer residency experience during which students are guided by professional engineers and educators as they design a human mission to Mars. Summer residency participants are also visited by guest speakers, tour engineering facilities, and compete in hands-on engineering challenges.
We need your assistance. Please help spread the word about this program to homeschool students and families who you believe would be interested in and benefit from this program. Student participants must be high school juniors with at least a 3.0 GPA, at least 16 years of age, Washington State residents, and U.S. citizens. Encourage them to visit www.museumofflight.org/washingtonaerospacescholars for an application and more information. Student Applications are due by November 7, 2008. I have attached a student application.
Please feel free to contact me with any comments or questions.

On the Just Vote Organization Site it says, the deadlines to register for

This link will tell you by state when the deadline is to register to vote.
Here's the link, you will have to copy/paste it into your browser:

A LOT OF VOTERS MAY NOT REALIZE THEY CAN STILL REGISTER, and MANY
HAVE BEEN TOO BUSY TO REALIZE WHAT'S HAPPENING AND HOW IMPORTANT
THIS ELECTION IS, even if NEITHER CANDIDATE CAN SOLVE OUR PROBLEMS.

Hopeful Farm Benefit Fundraiser for Families of Children with Special Needs
Dear Friends,
I would like to take a moment this morning to invite you and your children to participate in a very special event that is going on this week - something your family is just going to love to be a part of!
Many of you are familiar with our company publishing company Remembrance Press, home of the The Gift of Family Writing and The Girlhood Home Companion. This summer we began a new chapter in our lives with the founding of Hopeful Farm, a non-profit organization based in Kentucky that ministers to families impacted by special needs.
The vision for Hopeful Farm was planted in our hearts ten years ago, after the birth and death of their fourth child, Nicholas, who was born with a genetic syndrome. Now, Hopeful Farm is finally becoming a reality.
The mission of Hopeful Farm is truly unique and much needed as it seeks to provide an all-access environment in which families impacted by special needs may find time to focus on each other, build relationships, and gain refreshment and renewal in an escape from the exhausting grind of everyday life.
This is the first time Hopeful Farm has held a benefit of this magnitude, and you will not believe the resources that are being donated as a thank you for your participation. If you have been wanting some of my writing or drawing products to enrich your home school curriculum, not to mention our resources for mothers and daughters, this is something you have to see! www.hopefulfarmfoundation.org/benefit.htm
Not only that, but my publishing friends have donated some incredible resources as well, as a way to bless you for becoming involved in this very important work. Your family can have a direct impact on families with children with special needs - and in return, your own family will receive a blessing from all of the wonderful companies that have offered their products in support of Hopeful Farm.
If you would like to hear what Hopeful Farm is all about, you can access an online interview by Cindy Rushton with my daughter Claire and I at www.hopefulfarmfoundation.org/interview.html
This benefit will run for one week only until Sunday, October 5th, so take a look now...and please tell a friend or three or four about it!
Thank you and God bless,
Jill N.

GHOSTS OF THE GREAT HALL: DISASTER! NATURAL CATASTROPHES IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST, Tacoma, WA
One Day Only at the Washington State History Museum
GHOSTS OF THE GREAT HALL: DISASTER! NATURAL CATASTROPHES IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
Tacoma – Sept. 15 – Washington has long been the scene of colorful characters, natural disasters and ghost stories spawning tales even the most talented movie directors would love to come up with. On Oct. 18, from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Washington State History Museum, watch local actors perform original monologues portraying historic figures who played a part in one of Washington state's many natural disasters.
Under the direction of Katherine Billings (Much Ado About Nothing and Twelfth Night for The Washington Shakespeare Festival at the Washington Centre for the Performing Arts), entertainers will be dressed in period costumes performing interactive dialogues depicting their character's thoughts, feelings and reactions as a natural disaster unfolds around them. In character, actors will also engage the audience in question and answer segments, so guests can fully interact with history.
Guests will receive a map of the Great Hall of Washington History prompting them to connect with not only the performers, but artifacts, historic photos, and other documents on display as well. They will encounter the actors and learn through dramatic interpretation about the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption, the Wellington avalanche, and blizzards on Mount Rainier, as well as the characters the actors are portraying.
Among the characters featured are Harry Truman, a businessman and resort owner on Spirit Lake, also known as the "man who would not go" from Mount St. Helens when the mountain began erupting in 1980, and famous movie director Cecil B. DeMille who braved a blizzard on Mount Rainier to shoot the silent film The Golden Bed in 1924.
A popular annual student program, Ghosts of the Great Hall: Disaster! Natural Catastrophes in the Pacific Northwest is open to the public for four hours on the 18.
