The Philharmonic
Today was my birthday. I am aging.

Go here to see a picture of me 'back in the day'.
Today was a nice day. I received a couple presents. A lovely decorated box and a book on how to knit socks. I will practice on inexpensive yarn first.
This evening we went to the opening night of our local philharmonic orchestra.
They were playing all Russian music.
Sergei Prokofiev / The Love for Three Oranges
Alexander Borodin / Symphony No. 2 in B Minor
Sergei Rachmaninoff / Piano Concerto No. 3, op. 30 in D minor
Stephen Hargreaves played the piano during the Rachmaninoff music.
The conductor was Alexander Platt.
If you laid out a hundred different types of music for me to listen to, I would pick a good bluegrass tune every time, with the exception of sitting through the above live performance. The orchestra was TOP NOTCH. The music and conductor were TOP NOTCH. Stephen Hargreaves was TOP NOTCH. So, may I suggest to you, if you get a chance to listen to ANY of the above-mentioned, do so.
Until next time.

Oh my! It sounds like you had a divine birthday! A book on knitting socks would be so exciting to get! As well as the concert that you went to.
Hope you had an especially special day!

It sounds like you had a lovely day! Happy Birthday Dear Sister! I am looking forward to all of your socky knitting stories and adventures. What a beautiful thing that you do...trying "new" things and learning new skills.
Love,
Robin
