My Bible club leader has comissioned our club to read Hebrews 11, otherwise known as the Faith Hall of Fame. SO I figured, why not share it with the world-wide web?? Here goes:
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed be the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks. By faith Enoch was translated so that he did not see death, "and was not found because God had translated him"; for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would afterward receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude --- innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.
By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, "In Isaac your seed shall be called," accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense. By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff. By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones.
By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months be his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king's command. By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king, for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible. By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them. By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days. By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace. And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again.
And others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented --- of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and in mountains, in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.
Wow. "And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise..." My leader said that meant that they did not have a Savior or the Holy Spirit, like we do, because all of these people were Old Testament people. So they did all these things without the Holy Spirit as a guide. We have that, and without Him I would sin so much more. But the fact that they did all this without that; isn't it amazing?? "...God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us." We have the Savior and the Holy Spirit, so we can "be holy, for I am holy" (1 Peter 1:16)
This is my favorite version of the world's best Christian song since Amazing Grace. "Mary, Did You Know?" moves me to silent praise every time I hear it. This is Kenny Rogers and Wynonna Judd.
Here are the lyrics:
"Mary, Did You Know?"
Mary, did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water? Mary, did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters? Did you know that your Baby Boy has come to make you new? This child that you delivered will soon deliver you.
Mary, did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man? Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy will calm the storm with His hand? Did you know that your Baby Boy has walked where angels trod? When you kiss your little baby you kissed the face of God.
Oh, Mary did you know?
The blind will see. The deaf will hear. The dead will live again. The lame will leap. The dumb will speak The praises of The Lamb.
Mary, did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation? Mary, did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations? Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb? The sleeping child you're holding is the Great I AM.
Thanks SO much, Renee, for telling me how to do this!! I owe you a lot!

I know this is totally off the subject, but Renee and Emily94 went to Six Flags today because our symphony played there. I , however, did not go, due to performance conflicts. Actually, our choir director had to give us special permission to miss a choir performance today. She thinks I'm with the orchestra. I'm not. They're not even back yet. So, they got to perform with about half the orchestra, since 7 people out of 13 had conflicts. Thank God for a certain multi-talented musician named Elizabeth for stepping in and helping us out!!! Point is, Renee will be bubbling over with joy someday in the near future about her amazing time at Six Flags. Just giving you fair warning!! ;)
Back to the main stream:
So, I found another amazing chapter in the Bible. Philippians 4 rocks, and here's why....Never mind, just read it.
Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.
I implore Euodia and I implore Syntycheto be of the same mind in the Lord. And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life. Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy -- meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content. I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress. Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only. For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account. Indeed I have all and abound, I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren who are with me greet you. All the saints greet you, but especially those who are of Caesar's household. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
SO, lately we've been about things we're singing/playing. Here's one more. I'm singing Christmas Canon by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra with five of my friends from choir. Here's a neat video I found on YouTube where someone lighted up their house to go along with the song. Ignore the cars driving by.
Here's the link to the official music video. It's missing the beginning, but it's still amazing!!

She disabled the embed feature, so I can't post the actual video, but here's the link!!
Lyrics: When you ask me who I am,
What is my vision? Do I have a plan?
Where is my strength? Have I nothing to say?
I hear the words in my head, but I push them away.
'Cause I stand for the power to change,
I live for the perfect day.
I love till it hurts like crazy,
I hope for a hero to save me.
I stand for the strange and lonely,
I believe there's a better place,
I don't know if the sky is heaven,
But I pray anyway.
And I don't know what tomorrow brings.
The road less traveled, will it set us free?
'Cause we're taking it slow, these tiny legacies.
I don't try to change the world, but what will you make of me?
'Cause I stand for the power to change,
I live for the perfect day.
I love till it hurts like crazy,
I hope for a hero to save me.
I stand for the strange and lonely,
I believe there's a better place,
I don't know if the sky is heaven,
But I pray anyway.
With the slightest of breezes we fall just like leaves,
As the rain washes us from the ground.
We forget who we are,
We can't see in the dark,
And we quickly get lost in the crowd.
Oh
I stand for the power to change,
I live for the perfect day.
I love till it hurts like crazy,
I hope for a hero to save me.
I stand for the power to change,
I live for the perfect day.
I love till it hurts like crazy,
I hope for a hero to save me.
I stand for the strange and lonely,
I believe there's a better place.
I don't know if the sky is heaven,
But I pray anyway.

Hello, friends and enemies of weheartmusic! Hope y'all are doing well!
SO, I just finished the most musical weekend of my life. It's REGION ORCHESTRA WEEKEND and it's my favorite of the year. You see, I auditioned for the All-Region orchestra and MADE it, so I got to perform with the orchestra and it was SO much better than last year!!!! I DON'T have pictures *is sad* so you'll have to live with my descriptions. I met all sorts of people and instruments: a girl who plays the trumpet, a guy who plays the flute, and Asians galore. (To any oriental readers, take this as a compliment: Y'all are seriously good.) I met the bass clarinet (which is something like a saxophone, only a lot longer and maroon, not brass-colored) and played around with the rainstick (there is no description for this instrument).
I became acquainted with Gary Needham, our conductor, during practice on Friday. It was absolutely miserable outside on Friday, just saying. (We practiced Thursday from 7-9, Friday from 7-9, and most of the day Saturday.) He was absolutely amazing!! I LOVED every minute of rehearsal with him. He's from Allen, Texas, and he conducts regions across this great state, and he said we were some of the best. (WAHOO!!!) He's really funny too, I learned a lot of jokes from him. Who knew music could be so funny? He kept telling us, "Soon Hee Newbold is Korean, not Russian." (She composed one of our pieces, the one he was telling us not to rush.) I didn't get it until the third time. RUSSIAN! or perhaps this spelling will help, RUSHIN!!! Get it?? Here are some more jokes I learned from him:
What did the 0 say to the 8?? Hey, nice belt.
And now for the music jokes:
What's the difference between a bass and a violin?? The bass burns longer.
What's the difference between a viola and a trampoline?? You take off your shoes to jump on a trampoline.
Why do violinists put their cases in their windshields?? So they can park in handicap spaces.
This one I learned from Luke, our principal bassist:
What's the difference between a dead skunk and a dead conductor in the middle of the road?? There are skid marks in front of the skunk. (No one cares about the conductor.)
He never told a cello joke. I think they were relieved.
Anyhoo, our concert was absolutely fantastic!! I loved playing in it, especially Millenium (it's by Richard Meyer...YouTube it. You won't be disappointed.)
I learned so much about music. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, "Therefore, whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do it to the glory of God." (NKJV) And when you're a musician, it's so easy to do that. The notes on the page aren't the music. The music is everything around it, according to Mr. Needham. And he's right. It's everything you feel when you play it, or sing it. It's amazing to be able to take dots and lines on paper, and turn it into something that makes people cry, or laugh, or sing, or dance. Music is so much more than something you sing or play. Music is the highest form of praise we can give God, in my opinion. We are so privileged to take something dead and make it alive. Music is a living, breathing thing.
Music is what feelings sound like. And we can take that, and turn it into a living sacrifice for God's glory.

I discovered this chapter of the Bible while reading for school. I hope you learn as much as I did. Here it is in a children's Bible.
You foolish people of Galatia! Who has put you under an evil spell? When I preached, I clearly showed you that Jesus Christ had been nailed to the cross. I would like to learn just one thing from you. Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law? Or did you receive the Spirit by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? You began with the Holy Spirit. Are you now trying to complete God's work in you by your own strength? Have you suffered so much for nothing? And was it really for nothing? Why does God give you his Spirit? Why does he work miracles among you? Is it because you do what he says? Or is it because you believe what you heard?
Think about Abraham. Scripture says, "Abraham believed God. God accepted Abraham because he believed. So his faith made him right with God." (Genesis 15:6) So you see, those who have faith are children of Abraham. Long ago, Scripture knew that God would make non-Jews right with himself by believing in him. He announced the good news ahead of time to Abraham. He said, "All nations will be blessed because of you." (Genesis 12:3; 18:18; 22:18) So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham. He was the man of faith.
All who depend on obeying the law are under a curse. It is written, "May everyone who doesn't continue to do everything that is written in the Book of the Law be under God's curse." (Deuteronomy 27:26) We know that no one is made right with God by keeping the law. Scripture says, "Those who are right with God will live by faith." (Habakkuk 2:4)
The law is not based on faith. In fact, it is just the opposite. It teaches that "the one who does these things will live by them" (Leviticus 18:5) Christ set us free from the curse of the law. He did it by becoming a curse for us. It is written, "Everyone who is hung on a pole is under God's curse." (Deuteronomy 21:23) Christ Jesus set us free so that the blessing given to Abraham would come to non-Jews through Christ. He did it so that we might receive the promise of the Holy Spirit by believing in Christ.
Brothers and sisters, let me give you an example from everyday life. No one can get rid of an official agreement between people. No one can add to it. It can't be changed after it has been made. It is the same with God's covenant. The promises were given to Abraham. They were also given to his seed. Scripture does not say, "and to seeds." That means many people. It says, "and to your seed." (Genesis 12:7; 13:15; 24:7) That means one person. And that one person is Christ. Here is what I mean. The law came 430 years after the promise. But the law does not get rid of God's covenant and promise. The covenant had already been made by God. So the law does not do away with the promise. The great gift that God has for us does not depend on the law. If it did, it would no longer depend on a promise. But God gave it to Abraham as a free gift through a promise.
Then what was the purpose of the law? It was added because of human sin. And it was supposed to control us until the promised seed had come. The law was put into effect through angels by a go-between. a go-between does not take sides. God didn't use a go-between when he made his promise to Abraham. But the same God was at work in both the law and the promise. So is the law opposed to God's promises? Certainly not! What if a law had been given that could give life? Then people could become right with God by obeying the law. But Scripture announces that the whole world is a prisoner because of sin. It does so in order that what was promised might be given to those who believe. The promise comes through faith in Christ Jesus.
Before faith in Christ came, we were held prisoners by the law. We were locked up until faith was made known. So the law was put in charge until Christ came. He came so that we might be made right with God by believing in Christ. But now faith in Christ has come. So we are no longer under the control of the law.
You are all children of God by believing in Christ Jesus. All of you who were baptized into Christ have put on Christ as if he were your clothes. There is no Jew or Greek. There is no slave or free person. There is no male or female. Because you belong to Christ Jesus, you are all one. You who belong to Christ are Abraham's seed. You will receive what God has promised.

Howdy, y'all!! Ever notice how everyone thinks people in Texas greet each other that way, but we never really say that? We say, "Hey, how ya doin'?" or "Hey, what's up?" like normal people. NO, Texans are NOT normal, no matter how you look at it!! But this is totally off the subject.
Anyhoo, do any of y'all ever get these giant multi-colored books from Reader's Digest that have, like, four books in one? They're called 'Select Editions' in a fancy font not shown here on HSB, and THAT is where I found this amazing book. I have a pink one, an aqua one, and a purple cross-faded one. Grace, by Richard Paul Evans (from the purple) is my favorite by far, mainly because it's the only one I can find with no bad language or adult content. If you absolutely can't stand romance, don't read it. And if you don't want to know what goes on in the head of a 14-year-old boy (it's written from Eric's POV), don't read it. But otherwise: PLEASE READ!!
Eric is a fourteen-year-old boy going through some tough changes, brought on by The Cuban Missile Crisis. His family moved from a suburb in L.A. to a dingy apartment in Salt Lake City. His dad was paralyzed and couldn't work. So he got a job at a local restaurant after school. That's where he met a different side of Grace, otherwise known as Madeline, a classmate at Granite Junior High. He takes her into the restaurant and feeds her, and learns that she has run away from home. Determined to help her, he decides to hide her in the clubhouse behind his house with the help of his ten-year-old brother, Joel. But now it's their job to keep her fed, clothed, and ultimately, hidden. As they celebrate Grace's 16th birthday, Halloween, and Christmas, Eric and Grace develop feelings for each other and learn her heartbreaking story. While the world as they know it searches for Madeline, Eric learns the price of grace.
Grace, by Richard Paul Evans, is one of the most amazing fictional books ever written. But that's just my opinion. Read it yourself!

Well, I'm here!! Thanks, Micah and Renee for the great intro of me! And now for my intro of me...
I'm a 13-year-old 8th grader like Renee. We are in the same symphony and sit in the very same row in choir. In fact, her birthday is two days before mine. I've taken violin for 5 years and private voice for two, though I've been in choir for 8 years. I also dance, and have been since I was 3 (ten years!! wow), and I've been on the dance team at my studio for 6 years. So you can say music affects almost everything I do. Imagine doing all this and hating music.
But more important than all of this stuff, I've come to know the Lord Jesus Christ personally and I love him with all my ♥. As Paul says in Philippians 3:4b-8, 14 (NIV):
If anyone else thinks he has reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless. But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I might gain Christ;14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
The purpose of the bold statements was to make sure you don't take this the wrong way. I'm not saying I'm perfect, I'm far from it; and I'm not perfect at making sure God gets the glory when I use my talents. But life is a journey, not a destination. The most important thing I do is AWANA, a bible club from kindergarten through high school. Without it I never would have found those verses. I'll admit the Bible needs to be a more important factor in my life, and without AWANA and the Bible study I do in school I'd probably never read it. So I've determined to post something Bible-related at least once a month, in the hopes that it will keep me reading. Y'all don't mind helping me, do you??
I leave you now with the tip to read Philippians. It's a very uplifting book, and it reminds me that I have no excuse not to praise God!! For that I turn to Psalms.
You'll get to know me very quickly as the weeks go by!!
