Spring Update!
Hello again everyone!
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to keep up with this blog as I had originally planned, but I hope to get better at it!
We have had a busy Spring trying to get back into the swing of things after finally being able to move in February.
We worked through part of the Patience unit on Gardening/Plant Growth. We had a lot of fun doing various experiments and seeing how long some of them actually took to work!
I will get some pictures posted soon!
We have started working on Attentiveness: Sound, Music and Senses this month. We will continue working through June on this unit. So far it has been fun! We are studying various composers and their music. We are using the music for our "literature study" and then writing about what we hear, the instruments, how it makes us feel, etc. This has taken some getting used to, but the kids are beginning to enjoy it.
We have been reading various books together with the older two working on books for reports on Louis Braille and Helen Keller that they will share with the rest of us.
One of our big "hands on" activities we have done so far is dissecting cow's eyeballs! This was actually very interesting to see the parts and understand how it all work together. My youngest daughter (7), couldn't handle it though and ended up locking herself in the upstairs bathroom until we were done and put everything away! We did take pictures to show her later! The rest of the kids 12, 9 and 6 hung in there and we discovered a lot that day!
We will continue over the next few weeks learning about the other senses and how we use all of them to be attentive. We are learning about how to show our attentiveness to those in authority over us as well as to each other!
I will do my best to post updates as we go through this unit and hope to get some pictures posted here or post a link to them on my KONOS support group website!
Blessings, Wendy
