I have been doing some research on the different bible versions. I have come to the conclusion that King James Version should be the one that I should use.
First let me say that the King James Bible was translated during a time when the English language was at its peak in terms of eloquence. In the time the King James Version was written language was an art. Reading the KJV with it’s rich language develops a strong, agile mind.
Now, the King James Version was translated from the MAJORITY Greek Text which agrees with about 95% of all available manuscripts. While newer versions follow the MINORITY Greek Text even though that text exhibits a corruption throughout. Two of these are Vaticanus, which is sole property of the Roman Catholic Church, and Sinaiticus, both known to be overwhelmed with errors. It is said that Sinaiticus has been corrected and altered by as many as ten different writers. In Vaticanus is found the evidence of very sloppy workmanship. Time and again words and whole phrases are repeated twice in succession or completely omitted, while the entire manuscript has had the text mutilated by some person or persons who ran over every letter with a pen making exact identification of many of the characters impossible.
In the 19th century two men Westcott and Hort decided to change and omit verses for the basis of the English Revised Version. Which nearly all modern translations closely follow. Here are a few examples. (please compare with your modern bible version)
Matthew 23:14 KJV Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater ****ation.
Matthew 23:14 is not found in NIV, NLT or ESV
Luke 4:8 KJV And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Get thee behind me, Satan is omitted from NIV, NASB, NLT, ESV and ASV
Romans 1:29 KJV Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
The word fornication is omitted from NIV, NASB, NLT, ESV, ASV and NLV
Acts 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
Acts 8:37 is missing from NIV, NLT and ESV
Remember this is only a very few of the many verses that have omissions or are omitted completely. It seems that many omissions are because they were to harsh or politically incorrect. It just boggles my mind that these things are actually just cut right out of the bible. These are some of the reasons I am switching. To read more information please visit these websites.
