Spend an educational, fun-filled day at the Clay Center's Avampato Discovery Museum at one of our special Home School Days! You and your children may choose to experience our art and science galleries, see a giant screen film or planetarium show, participate in a themed hands-on workshop or participate in all three activities. FIll out our online registration form below to sign up for home school days or school performances.

Pricing
Funding may be available to home school students who qualify. All accompanying adults must pay applicable admission rates. Funding is not available for all events or school performances. To find out if your children qualify, please fill out the last two items in the registration form below.

Galleries- $4 per person for students and parents 
Workshop- $2 per person for students and parents
Film - $2.50 per person for students and parents

Forces and Motion

Film: Forces of Nature at noon
Forces of Nature is an exciting spectacle that follows scientists and their attempts to predict natural disaster. With tornadoes, volcanoes and earthquakes, this film will take you on a ride you won’t forget!
Workshop: Weather 101 at 11 am or 1 pm
You’ll get a real “charge” out of this workshop exploring lightning, static electricity, air pressure and more! 
Special Option - West Virginia Dance Company in WHERE IN THE WORLD IS? at 9:30 am
A geography, social studies and language lesson using movement and dance to teach students about the formation of the Earth’s continents and their various cultures.

Space Science!

Explore some of the most unusual things found in the universe like black holes, comets and more! Followed by a look around the nighttime sky.
Workshop: Toys in Space at 10 am or noon
See physics in action and have an out-of-this-world time as you explore how everyday toys behave in microgravity!
