First Day of School
Today was our first official day of school.  All said and done, I'd say it was successful.

The kids are VERY excited about the new curriculum.  They got a little burned out of all the workbooks last year.  It seemed like they sat and filled out worksheets for 2 hours and that was it.  BORING!  So we changed it up this year and I think it's gonna be great.

All 3 responded really well to the MUS. I think that it's going to work wonders for L.  She's starting multiplication this year so rather than just memorizing facts, she is understanding basic geometry and pre-algebra thanks to the way MUS presents the concepts.

I am confident that the LLATL will be great for L & J.  But, I'm not sure about R.  She is in the Blue books and that level is VERY involved and requires a TON of teacher prep.  That may not work for us.  I'm considering axing it and just using HOP like we did with the older 2.  My priority this year is to get her reading, not understanding grammar yet.  I'll have to pray on that one a bit more.
We did manage to finish our studies before lunchtime, but I missed my shower.
Our morning routine/schedule offers them 2 hours to get their chores done, during which I shower and dress for the day.  But today they were in hyperdrive and finished in under an hour.   WTG team!  Little do they know, this sets a precedent.  Now I know they CAN get things done quickly.

We had the added benefit of having Daddy around this am.  He was a great help in keeping the little distracter busy while the olders did their studies.  I get him Mondays and Tuesdays, but I'm on my own the rest of the week.
He has finally agreed to put a TV in our bedroom.  It won't have cable, but it will have a DVD player.  So, on desperate mornings I will be able plop the tot in front of Miss Pattycake or Veggies while we get our school work done.  YAY!

Tomorrow we will be making the first lapbooks in Science.  I intend to spend my evening 'designing' the layout so it's not such a large undertaking for them tomorrow.  Our first topic is the Creation.  Should be relatively easy to layout.  Dh has a date with the Raiders tonight, so I know I won't be missed.

Isn't it fun watching them learn! We had a good day today too. I love it when I see the wheels turning and the light bulb come on.
