Fall Gathering

There is an annual event in our area called the Fall Gathering.  It is best described as a craft fair & bake sale put on by and for homeschoolers.  Most of the items for sale have been created by the children.  It is held each year in a local park.  The kids and I have attended in previous years but never set up anything for sale.  This year L and I sold "Pie in a Jar".  It was great fun.  We spent much of the day before assembling our pies and planning our table.  We decided to sell the pies unbaked and market them as "take-n-bake" or "take-n-freeze".  This would save us valuable baking time, and allow the buyer to have fresh baked pies when they waned them.  We did not, however, bake any samples.  We should have.  I printed out a pix of what the finished (baked) product would look like, but I think we would have had better luck in our sales if we had pies to taste.  Oh well.  Live and learn.  We made 24 pies and sold 10.  Not enough to cover the cost, but now we have pies in our own freezer whenever we want them.  YUM!
(These are the pies we are making in the previous post. ;))

Other booths offered candy apples, fudge, lemonade, cookies, knitted accessories, beaded jewelry, wood carvings, etc.

Here's a pic of MissL at our booth:
