Check Out Our NEW Nature Blog, "FOR THE BEAUTY"
Come on in & make yourself at home as you catch up with the happenings of our little family. I'm Karla, the "scribe" for our family, and am better known as "Momma" to our two blessings, "Honey" to my hubby, and "the maid who provides for our every need" to our 2 kittens. I hope you will call me "friend."
We are a homeschooling family that has our mix of funnies and failures, along with triumphs & successes. I am a recovering perfectionist, who is ever so grateful that I serve a perfect Savior. He teaches me that I have a lot to learn, but also that He has brought me a long way.
I have been the bride to the most gracious, sweetest man in the world for the last 11 years. What I love most about him is that he is always striving to be a better husband, father, and child of God.
I am also the blessed mama to
OUR TWO GIFTS:
a creative 9-yo Darling Daughter who loves pink, being a little lady, having tea, reading, being creative, and riding horses
and a 5-yo tremendously adventurous Little Man-in-training who loves helicopters, bugs, dirt, running, and the sport of eating.

It's a women's ministry that was started in Richmond, Va, and when we moved from there, I decided to start one down here. While Im not doing it this year, please feel free to glean away from my entries of all the past programs & devotions.

Homechurch - how it started - that's one of those things that is kind of hard to explain, but I'm going to give it a try.
My dad was the pastor of our church from the beginning of its conception - some fifty years ago. Then he passed away.
Because of where our home was then located and where the church was located, we started having service once a month in our home, and the rest at the church building. This part is kind of hard to expain - but there was a different kind of feeling - when meeting in our home rather than the church building. It's a totally different experience. It's like you've taken the institutional part out of the church - the formalities - the building - and what's left - is "the church" - the real meaning of church, The Called Out Ones (Greek word, ecclesia). There was always such a sweet, sweet spirit. It just always felt so different, so much more intimate, so much more "real". Perhaps it is because we are without the formalities that we do out of tradition. Many of the things we do in church are not essential, but we do them because we always have done it that way (taking an offering plate, ushers, pews, pulpit, etc...)
I often would feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in a way that would be unique to only our homechurch services.
Now, we only meet in our home, although we still own the original building.
You mentioned that you looked through my posts on homechurch - you will see that there are a lot of good books I have recommended on the subject.
Thank you for coming by and browsing. You know, I've told you this before, but I really do love your pink curlers. That tells me volumes about your nature. I love your Oswald Chambers quote at the right hand top of your blog. I love that book, Utmost for His Highest, that is one of my very favorites. I read it during a very difficult time in my life and God used it to help me accept what was going on in my life and to realize that it was from the hand of God to work in my life and to develop needed fruits of the spirit.

Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving such nice comments. I loved your pictures from SC. We love it there too! I know after I get all of the Christmas cookie baking finished, I'll think back to this post with this recipe and think...'I should have written that recipe for the 10,000 chocolate chip cookies down.' LOL Have a wonderful weekend.
