Check Out Our NEW Nature Blog, "FOR THE BEAUTY"
Come on in & make yourself at home as you catch up with the happenings of our little family. I'm Karla, the "scribe" for our family, and am better known as "Momma" to our two blessings, "Honey" to my hubby, and "the maid who provides for our every need" to our 2 kittens. I hope you will call me "friend."
We are a homeschooling family that has our mix of funnies and failures, along with triumphs & successes. I am a recovering perfectionist, who is ever so grateful that I serve a perfect Savior. He teaches me that I have a lot to learn, but also that He has brought me a long way.
I have been the bride to the most gracious, sweetest man in the world for the last 11 years. What I love most about him is that he is always striving to be a better husband, father, and child of God.
I am also the blessed mama to
OUR TWO GIFTS:
a creative 9-yo Darling Daughter who loves pink, being a little lady, having tea, reading, being creative, and riding horses
and a 5-yo tremendously adventurous Little Man-in-training who loves helicopters, bugs, dirt, running, and the sport of eating.

It's a women's ministry that was started in Richmond, Va, and when we moved from there, I decided to start one down here. While Im not doing it this year, please feel free to glean away from my entries of all the past programs & devotions.

A "Grateful" Family
Over the holidays, we sat down (DH, his mom & dad, and I) and watched "The League of Grateful Sons" DVD from Vision Forum Ministries. I had gotten several copies of the movie: 1 to send to DH's grandfather for Christmas, who was in the navy & was stationed in the Pacific during WWII; 1 for my father for Father's Day 2006 (my dad is an ex-marine and has a deep love of the armed forces & their sacrifices, and for history); and 1 copy for our family.
This was such a wonderful film to watch as a family. It brought tears to all of our eyes many times. I'm sure for my mother-in-law it was amazing to understand a little of what her dad went through during the war. I sat and looked at her and my husband and thought, "How grateful I am that he (her dad) made it through the war alive, so he could meet his future wife and have L. their first-born, and she could then in turn have my DH." It really humbles you to see how God protects your family line as you trace it back through the generations.
For my husband and his dad, I think the strong message of fathers passing on a godly, loving legacy bonded them even more and encouraged them in that area. (My DH has such a heart for that lately; I got him "King Me" and "Point Man" by Micheal Farrar for Christmas and he is really enjoying them.)
For me, it gave me insight into why my dad, a former marine who didn't serve in combat, has such honor and respect for his "brothers" in the marines and the debt he feels toward them, along with other service branches. The quote, "When you go home, Tell them for us and say, For your tomorrow, We gave our today" rests very true upon his heart. I cannot wait to give him this video for Father's Day and tell him how much I treasure him and admire his love and respect that he has in this area.
