Dear Vanessa,
Hey. I’ll bet you’re wondering why I wrote you a note. Um, I’m not sure why myself.
Actually, it’s because Jeremy told me that you liked me. And I’m not quite sure what to do with that, because, well, I like you too. I just want you to know that I enjoy our friendship, and if you will have me when you’re older, I would be very happy.
So, um, tell me what you think. I hope this wasn’t too uncomfortable for you.

He sounds like a sensible chap. I'm glad you guys are simply enjoying friendship for now and waiting a while for anything else.
