A Rude Awakening

Almost all of the farm cats know that I have a Parakeet in my room.  And one of the cats, Peaches, has just recently learned how to push my bedroom door open.  So every now and then, I wake up hearing Amigo screaming!  And when I look at his cage I see not only Peaches in my room but Lucy and Simon too, and sometimes one of them will be on top of Amigo’s cage!  It’s a good thing I don’t let Amigo out at night.  Now that’s what I call a rude awakening.

Is She A He?

I’m beginning to think my pet parakeet Amigo is well…… a HE!!!!!! When I first got Amigo at the pet store, the lady that sold me Amigo said that you can tell if it is a boy or a girl by the color of the band that is above its beak.  If it is pink, it’s a girl, if it’s any other color, it’s a boy.  And at first it was pink but now it’s not…………….if anyone has a 1 year old parakeet, tell me if this is normal.

Rainy Day Rapids

One of the things I like to do after a rainy day - I like to go down to the creek and watch the rapids rush by.  I like to go and sit on this one rock that kind of goes from one side of the creek out to middle of the creek.  I guess that the reason that I like to go and sit on that particular rock is that since it is in the middle of the creek, it puts you right at the rapids and gives you the essence of being right in the middle of the rapids with out getting soaked.  And that is my favorite place to go after a rainy day.

Flyaway Kites

One thing we like to do on Jacobs Farm is fly kites.  It is really fun.  One time, I flew my kite so high and the wind was blowing so strong that the string broke! And it literally flew away.  But we got it back and there was not a scratch on it - even considering it flew into a tree.  Oops! Well, at least we got the string back on it.  After we are through, we leave our kites on the front porch in case we want to go out there later.  Then the cats like to sleep on them.

  My Cats on Jacobs Farm

My cats’ names are Skiddy and Br’er Fox.  Skiddy is my first cat and she is just a little bit older than Br’er Fox.  She was named after Skidaway Island as well as two of our other cats.  A funny story about Br’er Fox is when he was a baby, he was just barely thriving because there were so many other kittens and he could not find a place to eat so we had to bottle feed him.  It’s funny because back then he was so little and now….   HE’S HUGE!!!!  Now we all call him the Chunk.  Here are some pictures of Skiddy and Br’er Fox.
