Starting Anew

I am starting all over here with the HSB, with our school name. Eventually the page will be changed up a little bit, but this is the homeschooling blog of mine. :)

My name is Jess, but elsewhere in the internet world, you'll see me as Pursuer or God's Dancing Child. While I don't mind who sees any of my blogs, this one is specifically to share with my family. I want them to have a place that they can come and see what's going on with their neice, grand-daughter, cousin, etc.

My one and only daughter, who is 6, is going into her 2nd grade year of school, which will be the beginning of our 4th year homeschooling. I will call her Precious Jewel on here, as I do anywhere online. My husband I call Bubby, whom I've been married to for going on 7 years. He's a hard worker!

Summer time is a little more relaxed in our homeschooling. I am using two sites call File Folder Fun and Lapbook Lessons during the summer, along with keeping up a light math and reading/writing regimen. But it's done whenever in the day rather than after breakfast and chores.

The older one gets, the busier it seems. Even after Precious Jewel is grown and gone, there will be so much at home to keep me busy - I know it!

We are getting ready to start selling the natural cleaning supplies at farmer's market next week, and I am so nervous I feel like I could vomit. Precious Jewel is going to be with me, and she will be learning how to make change, total up orders, etc. I am excited, but again, really nervous.

We are keeping an herb garden for our family, but like anything and everything else in life, it's a part of a learning process and we are definitely learning from our first herb garden (first one, ever). I count life as school.

It makes me sad that I never paid too much attention to my Dad's love of the outdoors, because now I adore it. Perhaps if he hadn't loved it so much, I wouldn't now... it just needed to take several decades to sink in. *smile* I do hope that Precious Jewel will love the outdoors much sooner in life than I did.

I received half of the school curriculum in the mail already and am about to place the last orders. I ordered from Rod & Staff, CBD, New Tribe Missions, and am wanting to order from The Urban Homemaker, but their website is rather confusing and it seems many of the catalog products are not available on their site. I don't know. Then we'll start looking for great deals on the smaller supplies like glue, construction paper, etc. I'd rather be able to find that stuff by dumpster diving. (It would have been awesome to find any of the curriculum, unused, by dumpster diving as well - but that will probably never happen!)

Well, that's all for school right now.
