~ Lori is out! ~

My sweet friend Lori has asked me to update her friends here concerning her surgery this morning. I just received a phone call from Bill; he said she doing well, the doctors said the surgery went as planned. Praise the Lord, I am sure everyone who is friends with her, was anxious  to hear the good news. She should be going home sometime today. If something changes I come back and update this post.
Blessings,
Katia

~ Mom's Birthday ~

OK, I know, I know, I am so late in letting everyone in concerning my trip...... I'm finally getting back into a routine, if I haven't visited your blog yet, please forgive me I am trying to visit everyone as I can.

My trip from Indi to Brazil was long and very tiring, but nice. My stay in Brazil was wonderful! Very relaxed and enjoyable. Some people have asked me the best part of my trip.... Seeing family, the food, the people and just spending time with my mom.  Every morning she made our coffee and we would drink and talk for about 30 minutes before chores. Every afternoon we had coffee...... and every evening before bed we talked. I miss our sweet talks
She made me all of my favorite dishes and fruit juices, yummy .....I miss graviola, cashew and açai juice. Her lime cake was out of this world. Her turkey was wonderful, (yes, her own and no hormones) Only a Mom can make things so special. It was so hard coming home, I always think if this will be the last time I will ever see her.

Some of pictures.
I met these sweet ladies at the Miami airport, they made my trip a lot nicer. When we arrived in São Paulo the lady in red, paid for my coffee and pastry for I had to exchange my money yet. They were so friendly and kind, what a wonderful welcome I had from them.

My cousin, my brothres and their children Mom and I.
Nieces and nephew having fun waiting for the cake to be cut.
My brothers enjoying the delicious birthday cake.
My brother and his darling girls.
My oldest brother and his family.
Artur enjoying the cake.....yummy,....
My brothers and I, Ok excuse my do, the wind that day was unreal. Oh, it was so good to be with my brothres. They are very special to me.

Emanuelle, Leticia and I going to the Mall
Mom and my oldest brother.  This was Mom's  82nd. birthday.   Yes,  she had me when she was 40, yes I am the baby
I will try to get more pictures for S&T this Friday.

~ My last post for awhile :( ~

I just wanted to say good bye for now, I will miss you all! :(
It's been very hard for me to blog in the last two weeks as I have so many things to get done and ready before my trip this coming Sunday. I will try to stop by your blogs before I go, if I get a chance.
Please keep my family and I, in your prayers. Pray for my long trip, I will have some long wait at the airports going and coming back,  for all of the flights to be on time, and for my overall safety.
Keep an eye on my blog for me and if some of you could stop by my DD's blog sometime and say hi to her, that will be super! She will be a little lonely without her mommy  Her blog is set up for registered users only, you will have to be logged in.
I will try to take lots of pictures.

~ Show and Tell Friday ~

For S&T today I don't have anything from the Amazon, I would like to share with you something that is very sentimental to me.
As you can see this is a toothpick holder.  This was given to me by my mother the day before my wedding along with some other things from home. This was one her wedding gifts, she and my Dad were married in the 40's.
As long as I can remember this was always on the table or buffet, it's part of my growing up years and it holds a very special place in my heart. I hope to one day pass this along to my DD's home.

If you would like to be part of S&T Friday go here. It's so much fun visiting the different blogs and being surprised what everyone has prepared for it every week. Blessings.

~ My Week so far ~

OK, it's Tuesday, about 10:50 PM EST.  It was a very busy long day for me, actually yesterday and Sunday were also.

I received a phone call from my mom this last Saturday that her youngest brother had died of prostate Cancer. This was a hard sad news to me and my family. This uncle was so very careful in trying to preserve our family history. Then I was told that one of my nephews has a brain tumor, he is about 30 years old. A very intelligent sweet young man. I am so sad for him and my sister. Nine years ago this same sister lost her youngest son to car accident, he was only 15 years old. I can't even imagine the pain my sweet sister is having to suffer.

This afternoon my sis who lives up in Canada called me, we both had a good cry together. I'm so glad she is a little closer to me,  I hope to go visit her this year. Please pray for a miracle to take place in my sweet nephew's life, if the the Lord's will.

Yesterday afternoon and today I worked in getting my flight booked to go home. I can officially say when I am going home; I leave Indianapolis on Sunday September 23. I have so many emotions running through me at the moment. I will see my oldest brother that I have seen since I was about 4 years old. I'm so happy for this! I am also going to leave my DD, we have never been apart for more than 24 hours since  I had her.
I have so much to get ready for this trip.

Another news, I am going for my History/Civics test at immigration on September 11. I have known of this for a month now and some how I just kept forgetting to tell all of you. OK, I think this post might be getting very long and I am very tired. (((((Brazilian hugs)))))

~ Show and Tell Friday ~

As some of you know I had company all week. It was nice to have DH's Dad here with us this week. I'm sorry I couldn't visit anyone's blog; I will try to catch up soon with everyone.
For Show and Tell this week, I chose to show this small old fashioned prairie farm lamp.
This lamp came from my maternal grandparent's farm house. The last time I went to Brazil, was the last time I saw my grandmother. It was so precious to visit with her and ask her lots of questions about my family' history. I asked her if I could have something from her house that would remind me of her and her life. I knew the China was out of the question for grandma had 6 girls.  When I asked her for one of the farm's lamp she was chocked; she looked at me and said: "This old thing? Who would want this old, ugly thing in America? Wouldn't you like a new one from the market,  I was thinking all along you wanted something big, like my China or Jewelry." The family around me, all looked chocked as well. I am sure they thought I was nuts????

My grandparents never had electricity. Candles were too expensive. She did have one  beautiful, glass oil lamp, but kept that on her formal dinning room. I can remember as the sun was going down, the little lamps being lit for the evening. Their house is enormous and very dark at night, I was very glad to have one of these. I can still remember the smell of Kerosene all over the house.
This little lamp  (lamparina) is made out of tin, and requires a very thick wick.
To me this is a very special memory, I could have bought a new one, but I wanted hers; I wanted the sweet memory that a newer one would not have had.

~ Tuesday Ramblings ~

This post is long over due, for life does not stop, wow it's almost the end of July.....I have had several friends asking me about my trip to Brazil......thank you for the PM and the c-box messages on this.
Since I had to wait until I got my Green Card/citizenship stuff taken care of it, I missed on the low season ticket sales. June-August the tickets go up at least another $350.00...... This is such a busy season for travel from the US to Brazil, they add extra flights, so traveling at the moment is too crazy.

I am thinking of going by the end of September, for this is considered low season and I would love to be there at this time for my sweet mother's birthday, she is going to be 82 years old. (I was a little surprise package when she was 40 years old, showing my age)

I have been very busy, trying to buy a few books on E-bay, and trying to sell books. Trying to keep up with the house and the lawn, graden and company from out of town. I might still get more next week. When summer is over I will need a vacation, maybe a will go to Brazil

I was asked by my Secret sister what we did for  Anna's birthday. Here are some pictures, and a little glimpse of her day.

Her Daddy came home for lunch and fixed her traditional birthday Mac & cheese, that only he can make.

We went shopping for the afternoon (sorry no pictures)
After having fun shopping, and poor DH working all day, we went to Cracker Barrel for her dinner.

Her traditional Double layered Chocolate and Vanilla cake with Cream Cheese Raspberry filling and Cream Cheese icing. (This is too rich for me, I have to have a cup of coffee with it) The flowers are from our garden. After seeing the beautiful cakes Karen shows on her blog, I was kinda hesitant in posting mine.

This was her daddy's gift to her. Since she can't have her farm cats any longer or a cat in the house (allergy problem) Daddy knows how to spoil her. I'm so glad she has a very caring daddy that loves her. This cat breaths all the time (battery operated)

Her Mom is more practical "A sewing Basket"  and a few sewing things for her hope chest.
She received a few little things along with this,I bought this ar the Prairie Museum, Jenn, remember this?
Well, I will finish making my rounds on blog land this afternoon,
Blessings on your day!

~ Almost Wordless Wednesday ~

Two weeks later - found some flowers for half price.

The beatiful hanging basket that Lori gave me for my birthday. Adding some stepping stones and some rocks we brought with us from Colorado.

Today - Some of my Baby's Breath are just beginning to come up. (Center of the picture)

I have had to be very creative in how to plant  on this spot, because half of it receives the sun all day and the other half only gets the early morning sun.

~ Happy birthday Anna ~

Today is a very special day at our house; DD turns 13 years old today. She is a precious gift from the Lord! We are going to just hang out together after devotions/morning chores. DH is coming home to eat lunch with her. She asked her usual requests of every year; Double Chocolate/Vanilla layer cake; with Red Raspberry cream cheese icing in the middle and cream cheese icing on the out side. I believe I have been making this cake since she was 7.

.........................................................................................................

Happy Birthday Anna

The LORD bless you  and keep you;  the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;  the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.

~ Wordless Wednesday ~

INDIA DAY

REVISED POST: LOL,

I did this post this morning at the same time Jenn did hers......so, I started making my rounds to my friends when I saw she had a new post ........ I then decided to start  my rounds on Jenn's blog ......I get to her blog and she has a Wordless Wedenesday with words, so I made a comment about it..... now look at the comments I received for not saying a word LOL. I often wondered, what in the world was a Wordless Wednesday, because we women have so much to say all the time

This picture was taken in 2005, at our precvious hs group. The lady in the back is a  Pastor's wife in India, her husband is good friends with our family. They were here on a Missions trip about India. It was very exciting to learn about India that day. She allowed the girls to try on her Saris. One thing we learned that day was that India has over one million gods.

This Blog is about my life and the different adventures that I experience being a wife, homeschooling mother, homemaker, friend, and daughter of the king of the Universe. I am a follower of Yeshua (Jesus' name in Hebrew) He was born a Jew and lived as a Jew on this earth. It's because of him, and his incredible love towards me, that my ashes were turned into beauty. I'm a native of Brazil. I have been married to my DH, for 22 years. We met while he was there on a Mission's trip. We have one wonderful 13 years DD.
