Jan. 3, 2007 - Reading through the Bible this year

The only book I need to be reading each and every day is God's Word. How could I recommend or comment on any other book before encouraging you to read the very best book there is? So many novels, manuals, books and magazines are thrown at us tempting us to spend our precious time filling our minds with their words. Many would be profitable, exciting, entertaining and even life changing but would they be the best choice? I'm ready to commit to a year of putting the Bible first! By God's grace and with his strength, no longer will reading my Bible take a "back seat" to other good Christian literature. In 2007 - I want the best.
After seeing this post over at EEEEMommy's blog, I decided that reading through the WORD in chronological order would be a great goal for 2007. Would you like to join in? You can print out a copy of the schedule at www.backtothebible.org and just jump in on the correct day. Please leave a comment and let me know your joining in.
The more ladies who'll join us, the more encouragement we can give to "press on towards our goal." I'm anticipating an exciting year of growth in the LORD reading through the Bible chronologically this year! Don't miss out.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17
PS. If you happen across this post later in the year and are wanting to join in but think your "too far behind" - put those thoughts out of your mind! Print out the current months schedule at www.backtothebible.org/devotions and start reading! I'd love to have you join me.

WOW!! it was so nice to actually see a pic of you!! I have seen all your kids and often wondered what you looked like.
We are actually reading through the Bible for school. We are using the Heart of Wisdom Approach. But I would love to go with you also. Last year I got as far as Jeremiah, but no more!!
I have a list of the book chronologically that I was using. I will have to check out your link though.
Thanks for coming to The Daily Planet, and leaving me a comment!!
It is always nice to have people come to your blog!! But it is even better when they leave you a comment saying they have been there and telling you their thoughts!!
God Bless and Keep You and Yours!!
Take Care!!

Hi I also am kind of new to the blogging thing. I have a 5 and a 3 year old so I am kind of new to home "schooling" too. Although I have been home educating since birth, just not with the groups and stuff.
We just in the past year started eating more veggies. What I have found works best for my kids is to make them eat their veggies before the stuff they like.
" Tastebuds are trainable" I have heard but I didn't really believe it until now. My 3 year old daughter used to gag when she had to eat carrots and now just a few months later she loves them! She can't get enough.
I also am reading the Bible every morning. I used to not read it because it confused me, but then we started going to a new church and it all started making sense to me- now I love to read it, miraculously.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment on my blog. I agree with you that my struggle with homekeeping and my role as a stay at home homeschooling mom and wife is DEFINTELY one I need to take to the Lord first!
I will think about joining you in your reading through the Bible in a year. I have attempted this before, and failed to complete it quite a few times. I truly desire to get more of God's Word in my life, I just need to really think about how I want to do it so as not to create one more thing "hanging over my head" that is left undone at the end of the day and makes me feel guilty.
Regardless of whether I am part of it or not, I hope that it will be a wonderful experience for you adn I will check back to see how it is going!
Thanks again for the encouraging words.
Jen

How many of us can totally relate to Jen's struggles with being a wife/mom/teacher/etc... all in one? Wow, those feelings of helplessness sure do "hit home" with me. We are not meant to do this alone, are we? No! and we don't have to... continually giving our day over the LORD can take away so much stress. Keeping him our 1st priority (as I was recently reminded by JenIg's blog) should be our goal then our other obligations (so to speak) will fall into place. "Casting all your care upon Him, for he careth for you".

Oh, and can I also add how much HSB has been an encouragement as well! :-)

Hi Amy ~ I would like to join you in reading the Bible through this year. I printed the schedule from the site you listed. I am already four days behind. Do I just start on today, or do I need to "catch up?" I was quite tickled to see that I would be starting in Job today. I have read some books lately based on Job, and went through an experience over the Christmas holiday that reminded me of Job's experience. How neat that God would have me start reading there! I'm looking forward to getting to know you, and reading along with you. Already, in just this one visit, your blog has encouraged me. I found you from Ruth's blog. I visited your other one which is great with the slideshow! I'm glad you started this blog. I need encouragement in homeschooling, but more importantly in my walk with God. Have a great weekend!
Love, Kathy
