~Counting My Blessings~

Apr. 16, 2007 - Learn something new...

I'm learning to play the hand chimes!  A young woman in our church, who has a very musical family,  recently obtained a set of  hand chimes and is willing to teach a group of ladies how to play.  They needed two more people and asked me to try so I hesitantly said "yes" and we started practicing last night.  We are working on an arrangement to play for our Ladies Banquet in May.  It is was so fun, I can't wait  to practice again next week!

Maybe you've seen a bell choir -- this is very similar.  We all have 2 notes and just "chime in" when it's our turn.  It's a little tricky trying to make the chime sound correctly - I complained to our instructor ... "something is wrong with my chime!" but, no, it was just me!  One of the pieces of music is a version of "Joyful, Joyful We adore Thee" and I can't recall the name of the other piece we're learning.

I'm also "stepping out of my comfort zone" and helping with the decorating for the Ladies Banquet.  Our color scheme is lavender and spring green.  Anyone have some ideas for decorating our Fellowship Hall and tying in our theme of "Find Us Faithful"?

And one last thing on my mind ... what's up with all this snow?  My calendar says "April 16" and yet I'm having to cancel my plans due to the weather!  I had some sad, little kids on my hands when I told them we were not going to our homeschool co-op today.  We are in NY and it didn't hit us as hard as some other places so I'm thankful for that and yet I am longing for some sunshine and mild temperatures!  It's beginning to effect my mood.

Have a great day in the Lord, my friend!

~Amy
