~Counting My Blessings~

Dec. 15, 2007-Christmasy Happenings...

Posted in Just For Fun

I am busy enjoying the Holiday with my family and do not inted to post much over the Season... I do have some photos  - taken by Kayla - to share with you and update you on some of our Holiday preparations....

I am throughly enjoying this Christmas season:

Getting our tree:

Decorating:

 visiting with Great Grandparents:

Making Gingerbread houses:

(You can read more about our tradition of making gingerbread houses from scratch over at Homeschool Highlites!)

and shopping (almost done ) and wrapping, etc...

I also especially enjoy the Christmas carols and singing the traditional Christmas Hymns during church service as well as the special musical numbers that are shared.   Lord willing, I will be playing in the Ladies Chime Choir at our church for two services - we are playing "Carol of the Bells" and "Pat - a - Pan."   I really enjoy it.

I am using Stormie Omartians book "The Power of Christmas Prayer" with the kids during our Bible time in the morning.   Stormie re-tells the biblical Christmas story of our Savior's birth from the announcement of the miracle of John the Baptists conception right through Joseph and Mary and baby Jesus fleeing to Egypt.   Scripture guides the storyline but she fills it will culturally correct details of the time as well as her own thoughts on what each person may have been feeling or doing.  Each chapter ends in a verse and a prayer that applys to our lives - leading the reader to ask God to deal with them and use them.  I have the children bow their heads and listen to the prayer and pray along as the Spirit leads.   We have really enjoyed this time. :D

Have a wonderful and blessed Christmas Holiday and may the Joy of Jesus be with you long after the 25th!

Cute gingerbread pictures. The book you're reading to your kids sounds good. I read The Tale of Three Trees to my kids today. They really liked it. I think everyone's probably heard of it before but we're just now getting to it.

How precious to have a ring and necklace from your grandmother. Priceless is the right word.

Merry Christmas!
