"I love fall! Fall is exciting.
It's apples and cider.
It's an airborne spider.
It's pumpkins in bins.
It's burrs on dog's chins.
It's wind blowing leaves.
It's chilly red knees.
It's nuts on the ground.
It's a crisp dry sound.
It's green leaves turning
And the smell of them burning.
It's clouds in the sky.
It's fall. That's why...
I love fall."

Apr. 22, 2008 - Everything You Want to Know About Mothers....
Kids Answer Questions About Mothers
Here's how several elementary school students answered the following questions about moms:
Why did God make mothers?
She's the only one who knows where the Scotch tape is.
Mostly to clean the house.
To help us out of there when we were getting born.
How did God make mothers?
He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
Magic, plus superpowers and a lot of stirring.
God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.
What ingredients are mothers made of?
God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.
Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
We're related.
God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

Jan. 19, 2008 - A quick hello...
Hi everyone!
Hope your having a wonderful weekend. It's been a busy one for me but I'm looking forward to my day of rest tomorrow.
Friday I spent the morning decorating a birthday cake for my bro-in-law and then part of the afternoon helping my sister set-up for his surprise 40th birthday party. The party was all evening and I was plum tuckered by the time we arrived home. Fun stuff - and he really was SURPRISED!
This morning I slept in (thanks dear hubby) and then got caught up on a few things while watching a friends daughter. She is 10 so it was no trouble having her and such a sweet girl, her and Jesse & Josh played. In the afternoon, my sister, niece and I took off to do some bargain shopping and we did find some great deals. I got some cute things for the house at "The Christmas Tree Shoppe" and also lots of new clothes for the little boys at JC Penny. Wow, they are having a HUGE sale, a 3 piece outfit for Jesse was only 6 dollars and shirts & pants for Josh marked all the way down to $1.30 each. (Thanks for the tipoff, Micki!)
Lastly, teen blogger, Brittney, helped me fixed my template which has been out-of-whack! Thanks so much to her and I know she would enjoy a visit from ya -- you can see the templates she designs at her new website - Be True Mag.

Dec. 15, 2007 - Christmasy Happenings...
I am busy enjoying the Holiday with my family and do not inted to post much over the Season... I do have some photos - taken by Kayla - to share with you and update you on some of our Holiday preparations....
I am throughly enjoying this Christmas season:
Getting our tree:

Decorating:

visiting with Great Grandparents:

Making Gingerbread houses:

(You can read more about our tradition of making gingerbread houses from scratch over at Homeschool Highlites!)
and shopping (almost done
) and wrapping, etc...
I also especially enjoy the Christmas carols and singing the traditional Christmas Hymns during church service as well as the special musical numbers that are shared. Lord willing, I will be playing in the Ladies Chime Choir at our church for two services - we are playing "Carol of the Bells" and "Pat - a - Pan." I really enjoy it.
I am using Stormie Omartians book "The Power of Christmas Prayer" with the kids during our Bible time in the morning. Stormie re-tells the biblical Christmas story of our Savior's birth from the announcement of the miracle of John the Baptists conception right through Joseph and Mary and baby Jesus fleeing to Egypt. Scripture guides the storyline but she fills it will culturally correct details of the time as well as her own thoughts on what each person may have been feeling or doing. Each chapter ends in a verse and a prayer that applys to our lives - leading the reader to ask God to deal with them and use them. I have the children bow their heads and listen to the prayer and pray along as the Spirit leads. We have really enjoyed this time. :D
Have a wonderful and blessed Christmas Holiday and may the Joy of Jesus be with you long after the 25th!
