Summer's almost over??!!!

Where has the time gone?  I can't believe that one week from today we start co-op.  I'm going to be teaching about Creation and Dinosaurs.  I thought with five out of six children in the class being boys this subject might appeal to them.  I have plenty of books and activities I just need to get them organized a little so I won't be stubbling around next week.
The past week has brought plenty of excitement to our house.  My mom-in-law came last Monday and has been here helping with the children and other projects that we're trying to work on.  I went last Wednesday for an ultrasound and we found out the sex of our little tie breaker.  All I pray for is a healthy baby, but I'm excited to know also.  Especially since we thought that #4 was going to be it and I'd been getting rid of baby clothes as he's grown out of them.  The Lord has such a wonderful sense of humor.
This past weekend our chicks started layiing.  How exciting it was to go out to the coop and find that first egg.  Later that same day the children went out and found a second egg.  They were thrilled.  Since then we've been getting about one egg every day.  Today #3 and I went out to check and one of the chickens was in the nesting box so we quietly closed the door back and let her finish her job.  Husby came home for lunch and went out and found an egg.
I mentioned that mom-in-law was here helping out with other projects that we're working on also.  Saturday also found Husby working on remodeling our downstairs bathroom.  She came to help out with this project also.  They won't let me do much lifting so it's been a tremendous help having her here.  Sis-in-law came for a short overnight trip this past weekend also.  She and I went to Lowe's on Saturday and picked up some of the items husby needed.  She was a great help also.  Family is such a blessing.
I must confess I'm very proud of husby for tackling this project.  He has been doing a great job.  He's able to bounce ideas off his mom and others which has been helpful.  I was afraid that the remodeling would be a distraction for the children, but I'm finding that it's wonderful for them to experience this and to help out.  Mom-in-law was mudding the walls today and each of the three older children got to help out.  She said that #3 was a natural.  I wasn't surprised, I believe the Lord has put a great gift in him.  We just have to find it, without getting to frustrated on the journey.
School has been going fairly well.  The biggest problem has been keeping #4 occupied.  Some days he's content to play in his room or crib while we're doing school others he's not content doing anything but fussing.  I'm really finding out where #2 is having troubles.  I definitely haven't worked with her as much as I have with #1 or even #3.  I see a need to spend more one on one time with her.
I thank to Lord that I'm allowed to homeschool and spend this precious time with my children.  they're so creative and most days I'll admit they wear me out.  But I love it just the same.
Well, I must go for now, so until next time.

Pity Party or envious of Super Moms

Do you ever have one of those days when you think you have most of it together only to find out that you've forgotten something?  I don't know how people do everything that they need to do.  Am I totally disorganized or are they Super Moms (and Dads)?  Some days I feel as if I've gotten everything accomplished only to find out later that I forgot to pay a bill, take the dog to the vet, pick up my contacts, etc.  I'll admit I'm not the most organized person but I know some people who are worse than I am and yet it doesn't seem to affect them the way it does me.  Then I see others that seem to totally have it all together.  A clean house, laundry all washed, folded. and put away, supper on the table, children homeschooled, bills all paid, and they have time for extras.  How do they do it?  I guess some days I feel overwhelmed and today happens to be one of those days.

On the homeschool front we added two more subjects this week.  So now we're doing Math, Handwriting, and Language.  School was one of the good things today.  It got off to a little rocky start with the 6 year old, but I'm finding that right now most things with her are pretty emotional.  The 8 and 4 year old did a great job.  The 4 year old actually keeps asking for more "school work" to do.  It's fun to see him enjoying school so much.

Well, I need to go, so until next time.

Continuation

Ok, I've got a little time alone.  At least 10 minutes and thought I'd try to get finished what I started last time.  Forgive me if I ramble or repeat.

I mentioned the chickens, started out with 8 and a friend brought us 4 more.  Our puppy Lilly played two literally to death and one died of natural causes.
Co-op ended for the summer much to my relief.  Not that I don't love it but at the time I was suffering from what I thought was some very bad allergy troubles.  Within a couple of weeks the congestion in my head turned into complete nausea that wouldn't go away so then I started suspecting something else.  A pregnancy test confirmed my suspicions.  Come to find out instead of allergies we're expecting baby # 5.  I think husby handled it a little better than I did at first.  I had big plans for the summer.  I was going to continue homeschooling working the CM theory into practice, the baby was going to start potty training, get rid of his pacifier, and get moved into a big bed, and I was going to work in our flower beds and garden.  Instead I was out of commission for about 6-7 weeks.  I started feeling better late June-early July while the children and I were on a two week vacation in WV.  Husby joined us at the end of the two weeks for a family reunion.
After coming home from WV the children and I were at the Farmer's Market one Saturday morning and ended up coming home with our second puppy, Milly.  Husby threatened not to let me go out of the house on my own any more.  I told him I must have had a sticker on my forhead that read "Sucker" or else she saw a woman with four children and thought we'd have a good home for her puppy.  Because the woman came up to us and told me how she was getting married in a couple of weeks, was trying to move, her future husband wasn't very thrilled at the idea of a puppy, and it how it was becoming too stressful.  What's an animal lover to do?  Well, I may as tell you a few weeks later we also ended up getting a kitten, named Smokey.  That story isn't nearly as dramatic so I won't go into details.
OK, Ok back to homeschooling.  We started back to school this week.  I'm getting us all back into it slowly.  Since math has been our hardest subject and we're starting a new curriculum this year (Math-U-See) I decided to only start that this week and begin something else next week.  The first day when I mentioned that we were going to begin school the 6 yr old fussed and fussed.  After doing one lesson of Math she fussed and fussed that she wanted to do more.  So for the past two days I'm been preparing two lessons per day for her.  The 8 year old is loving it also.  I'm praying that this enjoyment of Math will last.  As for the other subjects I am planning on adding the CM theory as much as I am able.  I'm really attracted by the short lessons and the nature walks.  I'll write more as we get a little more underway.
Co-op starts back after Labor Day.  After finding out I was expecting in Jan. the director schedualed me to do all my teaching this Fall, with only one week of break.  It wears me out to think about it but I think I've decided that I'm going to teach the same subject in the pre K-K as well as in the 1st-2nd grade class.  I think it'll be something they'll all enjoy.
Well, I must close for now.  the children are back from Wacky Wednesdays and I must help them get ready for bed.
Until next time.

Where has time gone?

Has it really been March since my last entry?  Where has the time gone?  The 4 year old is already up from rest time so I don't have much time to write but will try to bring you up to speed with our goings on.

Where to start?

Did we have our puppy, Lilly, and twelve chicks when I last wrote.  Not sure but sometime back in the Spring we brought them home.   Our first experience with raising chicks.  It's been interesting!  I think if we do it again I would like to hatch our own, but that's for sometime in the future.  As I said we started out with 12 chicks, we now only have 9  (Lilly helped do away with two of the chickens and one died on its own) with 5 of them being roosters.  The childrens books make you believe that roosters only cock-a-doodle-do in the morning but I'm here to say that it's a lie.  They do it ALL day long.  It's still been fun although husby may have something different to say.
Our puppy Lilly no longer looks like a puppy, but acts the part very much.  She loves to play and is in to EVERYTHING, much to our dismay.  Last night she broke into our screened porch where her little puppy sister, Milly, and our other new family member a gray kitty named Smokey  are presently residing.

Well, the 4 year old has occupied himself all that he is able and is now needing Mommy's full attention so I must go for now.  Maybe next time I'll be able to write more.  Until then.

So much to say so little time

There has been so much going on since my last entry.  Last week we added to our family by 9.  We got a puppy and 8 chicks within 5 days.  The children are having so much fun watching the chicks.  For now we have them in the house in a big plastic box.  The children just sit by the box and watch them at whatever they're doing.  When they aren't watching the chicks or doing school they're usually outside playing with the puppy.  Used to be I had to make our 5 year old go outside (then she wouldn't want to come in) but now she wants to go outside and see her baby.
Today we had three visitors at our co-op.  It's so nice to see other families that have an interest in homeschooling their children.  The three families that visited had little boys that would be in our 5 year olds K-1 class.   If they all join, that class will be fun to teach in next year.  Not that it wasn't fun to teach this year, but with the addition of boys it won't be boring.
Well, I must close for now and get supper started so until next time.

New Face

I decided my blog needed a little face lift.

This week our three oldest children have been with my mom in Williamsburg.  Our oldest son turns 4 on Friday and since he only gets a b-day every four years we thought it would be fun to do something out of the ordinary for him.  So we all went to Williamsburg last Saturday.  Sunday evening my husband, the baby, and I came back home so husby could go to work,  I could teach, and baby Isaac could go to his doctors appointment today.  Then tomorrow we'll go back to Williamsburg along with my mother and sister-in-law.  Tomorrow is sis-in-laws b-day, mine is Thursday,  Z's is Friday, and mom-in-laws is next week so we thought we should to celebrate them all together.  Hopefully it will be a good time for all.  I know the children are having a great time.

Well, I should go and get some things done while baby I is sleeping.  So until next time.

Quiet?

I'm sitting here at the desk typing this and I'm thinking is this really my house?  It can't be because it's much too quiet.   Is someone sick?  Are they doing something they aren't supposed to be doing?  Have they killed one another?  Have they sneaked out the door to the neighbors house?  The answer is "no".  This is one of those rare moments when they're playing with one another nicely and quietly.  I know it won't last long and war will be back in our house soon, but for the time being I'm enjoying it.  Thank you Lord for this little bit of piece and quiet.  Ah, here comes our 3 year old asking questions, which he is full of.  Amazing, it was only one question and back he goes to the playroom.  Well, I'm going to end for now.  So until next time.

homeschooling

I know most of my entries lately have been about husby's job search and I haven't mentioned anything about school lately.  So I thought I'd post a little update.
Our 7 year old has become a giant bookworm.  She's reading us out of house and home.  I've asked some friends with older children for book ideas and one friend is letting her borrow some books.  I also saw in a catalog the other day a series of books called Daughters of Faith.  I'm trying to find out more about them.  I'm also trying to find out about Math-U-See (?) for her.  She loves reading and writing, but math is not as easy for her.  I want her to feel successful in this area also.  Math was never one of my favorite subjects either and I don't want to turn her off to it completely.  If anyone who may read this blog has any ideas I would love help.  If not I'll let you know what I find.
Our 5 year old is fighting with not wanting to do school but still enjoying the idea that she's learning to read, just like sissy.  She's doing great with her cursive writing and flies through several pages of math, after fussing that she can't do it.  I remember her sister did the exact same thing her first year of schooling.
The 3 (almost 4 year old) has learned almost all of the sounds of his letters, likes tracing his names, is counting to 30, and loves puzzles.
As for the baby he's loving the fact that he can reach so much more now that he's walking.  Of course mommy and daddy aren't too happy that he can pull so much off the table.  We always underestimate how far his little arms can reach.
Well, I'd better close for now.  Until next time.

Where is our Canaan?

This morning my devotion took me to 2 Timothy 1:7 'for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control'.  And it talked about opportunities to step outside of our comfort zone.  I think I mentioned in a previous blog that the week before the things started with husby's job that we had been talking about our garden and jobs that needed to be done around our house, we were in a comfortable place in our lives.  And then life was turned upside-down with the possibility of moving.  My prayer is that we will allow the Lord to take us where He wants us, even if it's out of our comfort zone.
We're still unsure of what God is having us do, but husby's had several interviews and one job offer so far.  He turned down the one offer after much prayer and talk between us.  Although we liked the location and it would have been a little closer to my mom  but further from his mom and sister.  We felt that at this time we needed to stay closer to all members of our extended family, due to health problems.  Husby had an interview yesterday which would be closer to his mom, sister, and my mom.  The job was actually located only about 15 minutes from his sister's house.  I'll admit that at first I had some reservations about the job and being so close to his sister.  But after being there yesterday it was a little exciting to think about being so much closer to family again.  I still don't know about the job, but he seemed to like what he found out about it.  I think my  biggest reservation came from the fact that I had a nightmare about it.  Of course he hasn't been offered the job, we don't know if it will be offered to him, or if he will accept if it is offered.  But God knows where our Canaan is located all we have to do is trust Him to lead us there.  He is always faithful even when we are unfaithful.

Where do we go from here?

Life is never dull at our house.  How could it be with four little ones to keep things lively.  But very recently God threw a curve ball at us (or at least at me not sure how long husby's known something was up).  The past couple of weeks we've been talking about what kind of plants we want in our garden this summer and about some of the odd jobs that need to be done around the house.  We were sure we were going to be here for quite a few more years.  But this week God has shown us that He may have other plans for us. Husby has put a few "feelers" out for other jobs this week after a little uneasiness.  So far he's had a couple of responses and at least one phone interview and a second one scheduled.  We know from past experience that God works quickly when he moves us so I'm a little nervous about the outcome of these interviews.  Now, if God were also the one packing the boxes I wouldn't be so nervous, but as it is we're usually the ones that are left with that job.  Oh well! I'll go where you send me Lord!
We have some newlywed friends that are currently worrying about money issues.  All I could tell the wife is that God will take care of them.  And I'm telling myself that same thing right now with the thoughts of a move.  God did promise us chocolate and flowers everyday.  He knew that life would bring us hardships and trials.  But He promised us that He would never leave us, even when we feel we're in "the depths of despair" (quoting Anne Shirley).  The God that takes care of the flowers and birds, how much more does He love and take care of me?
Well, I hear movement from the little ones so I'd better sign off for now.  Until next time!

God doesn't work that way

The news came yesterday that her tumor has grown and the doctors will not do chemo again.  The next step is talk about radiation.  How can such a little live-wire be so sick.  If a person didn't know that she has cancer they would think she is a sweet, normal, and healthy two year old.
My heart breaks for her daddy and mommy.  And yet there has been a time that I wanted to fuss at them because of the lie that they've made her.  They had such a hard time having a child then they met a woman that was pregnant again and wasn't able to take care of the baby so they adopted her (I'm sure there were more details involved).  And yet they told his side of the family that they'd had a surrogate mother.  They were afraid that his family wouldn't love the baby like one of "their own".  I was clued into the lie from the very beginning but couldn't believe that they would do something like that or think that low of their own family.  And when it was confirmed I was angry because I knew with whom they were trying to compete and then I thought maybe her cancer was God's way of punishing them for lying about her.  That last thought I didn't allow to stay for very long.  Sometimes it tries to creep back in but I don't believe that God would punish my niece for the lie that my brother and sister-in-law have created.  The rest of the family may never know, because it's not my place to tell them.  I leave that to my brother and sister-in-law.  But if you come across this blog and think about it please say a prayer for my niece and her family.  God knows her name and He still answers prayer.
Until next time.

An Affirming Word

God had plans for me today.  Our Sunday morning was normal.  Crazy and hectic.  All days are crazy around our house but for some reason Sunday morning seems to be the worst.  But God had a plan for me today.  The morning was hectic but when we got to church I sat out in the van while the baby took a little nap in his car seat and I read my devotion from Our Daily Bread (titled "An Affirming Word").  The Bible reading came from 1 Corinthians 1:1 -9.  And the little quote at the bottom read  "We're building up or tearing down in everything we do:  Are you on the construction gang or on the wrecking crew?"  (Anon)
After this I went inside and heard my husband deliver the message this morning.  All week I'd been praying that God would speak through him and open our hearts to the message.  I especially prayed this morning knowing what our home was like this morning.  God helped him to overcome the morning craziness and deliver a wonderful message from Ecclesiastes 4.  Wish I knew how to do all the fancy stuff to tell you where you could find and listen to his sermon, but at this time I'm not sure how to do it.  After the sermon  we had dinner at church and I got to visit with someone that I hadn't talked much with before.  Then I drove the family home, changed clothes, got the girls and we headed back out to church.  The women of the church had a retreat about being Godly wives.  While I was at the retreat our 7 year old went to play with a new friend and the 5 year old stayed at the church.  After the retreat we went and picked the 7 year old up at the friends house.  She was unusually quiet on way home.  I asked her what was wrong, but she was hesitant to answer.  Finally, I got her to tell me the problem.  It seems while she was there the friend and her sister got into a little fight and said some words that my daughter knew she shouldn't say.  I got a little concerned about what they might have said so I questioned her about it and with reluctance she told me the words were shut-up and stupid.
These two little words seem so innocent compared to other words out there and yet they can break a person down.
God seemed to fill my day with a learning about words and how we can use them to encourage others or use them to tear others down.  So my prayer for myself and you is Psalms 19:14  "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer."

Until next time.

It's November!

Wow!  I'm blogging in a new month.  I've recently become an addict of facebook, so I was afraid that my blogging days would be over.   My husband is probably regretting that we finally got DSL, because I use the computer now.  Before I couldn't dreaded having to use the computer for anything because it took so long.  Now I get upset with myself because I use it more than I should.  I have found some fun educational site for the children though.  Our 7 year old, who is learning about China at co-op, was reading Chinese fables today at Learn to Read at Starfall.  And our 5 year old was playing a matching game where she had to match a word card with a picture card, at the same site.  She was sounding out the words and finding the picture that went along with it.  They both had fun and I was able to work with them individually without continual interruptions.  I've always been a little fearful of the children and computers.  I've personally never done much with them before and I guess I was afraid of something that I don't know too much about, but today we had a good experience.  I would like to try and find some more sites that I could use in the same way I did today.
Well, the baby is sleeping, the older children are outside playing, and we're going to be raking leaves all day tomorrow so I'd better get to cleaning.
Until next time.

Back from vacation

Well, we're back from our first "family vacation".  God was sooooo good.  From the first day of planning I prayed that everything would go smoothly.  When we found out that we were going to be a little over an hour away from Philadelphia I had originally thought we'd spend our whole time there.  But then we invited my mom (after the death of my father) and she mentioned that she might be able to get something in the Lancaster area through their time-share.  So I started looking for things to do in that region.  Well, the time-share thing didn't work out, but I did find some Farm B and B's.  And I thought to myself what a wonderful way to spend our vacation.  Some of the places even said that you could help out on the farm, milking, gathering eggs, etc.  Of course being a homeschool mom I jumped at the chance for the children to learn about farming.  So I emailed several places and found one I thought sounded great for our family.  I checked with my husband and my mom to see if they thought it sounded good, so it was several days later when I contacted the B&B.  One day out of the entire week that we were to be there had been taken.  I was sick, I had just a little over two weeks to find something.  I prayed some more and then started calling places.  The first place I called was no longer in the B&B business, but gave me the number and website of another (newer) place.  It was only the Bed w/o the Breakfast. I'd planned on taking bread and muffins anyway (since we've been milling our own grain),  so I went ahead and checked out the site.  It sounded and looked perfect!  I called that day and found out they had something the week before and the week after, but that entire week was open. (Yeah!) The price was cheaper than the other place plus if we were there a week we got a discount.  GOD IS GOOD!!!!!!

I'll give a run down of how the week went:

Monday we started our trip.  Knowing the children would get bored I made them Pennsylvania books.  Each of the older three had their own book with different games, puzzles, and coloring sheets about PA to do.  The baby had Grandma to keep him entertained.  We passed by Gettysburg.  And my husband being the Civil War buff that he is wanted to stop.  I never enjoyed history when I was in school but he made it come alive.
Tuesday we were able to laze around a little then we got ready and went to the Strasburg Train Museum.  And later that evening we went on a Amish buggy ride.
Wednesday we visited Philadelphia.  We saw the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Second Street Museum, and many, many other sites.  The children played a wonderful game at the Museum where they had to find different paintings.  They also got books to become Jr. Park Rangers.
Thursday they got to help feed the calves on the farm and later that day we went to Hershey.  We took a tour of the Chocolate Factory and the children got to be Jr. Factory Workers.
Friday was a little slow.  But by 2 pm we had to be in Gilbertsville for a wedding rehearsal.
Saturday we went to a Pretzel Factory and took a tour and learned how to twist pretzels, then we went to the Kitchen Kettle, and did a little outlet shopping.  I found some GREAT bargains on children's clothing (they don't have taxes on food or groceries).
Sunday was the wedding.  That was an all day affair.  Of course the wedding had the prettiest flowergirls and the most handsome ringbearer.
Monday we came home.

There was so much to do and see.  We only hit the tip of the iceburg.
All in all it was a wonderful vacation, but I'm glad to be home.

Well, my alone time is over and I'm being bombarded with questions of snack and supper.  Until next time.

Community Helpers

Maybe I'm starting something, I blogged a few days last October and then stopped and now I'm blogging a few days this year.  Maybe a few days in October will be my blogging.  I guess November will tell.
Anyway, I'm back teaching the now K-1st graders at our homeschool co-op.  This year I've been teaching a unit on community helpers.  It's been great!  We've been on 4 field trips in 5 weeks.  How else do you really learn about community helpers than by going and seeing them at work.  And how many school systems would allow a field trip every week for 4 weeks?  It would have been 5 weeks, but the bakery that we were supposed to visit today had to call and cancel due to freezer issues.  So instead of going to the bakery we got to BE bakers.  With aprons on we were ready to take on the task of baking bread.  We learned about following the recipe, each child got to help with adding ingredients, mixing and kneading the dough, and finally they were each given a piece of dough to shape.  After baking each child got to take home their masterpieces.  I'm not sure how much of the bread actually made it home, I know my own daughter had a little less than half left when we arrived home, but she did share it with all of us.  We even stopped at daddy's work so she could give him a piece.  At the end of my 7 weeks in this class each of the students will have a personalized book about community helpers to take home.  I think the children have had a fun time with this unit.  I know I've really enjoyed my time being with them.  They're great kids!
In case your interested here are a few of the other community helpers we visited (all that my children have been to since we've been in this co-op):
Fire Dept.
Rescue Squad
college campus library
Post Office and place called Midtown Mailboxes
Dentist
Hospital
Bus Station
Radio Station
Pick-your-own fruit farm
pet store
I contacted a bank, veterinarian, police station, and local state park also.  Some of them I didn't hear back from others the timing just wasn't right.
I found information and worksheets online about each thing to put in the children's book.  Like I said, it's been a fun unit.

Until next time.

fianlly remembered!

I finally remembered my password.  After trying many different usernames and passwords I finally got the correct one (with help on the username).  Now whether or not it will be remembered is another story all together.  Let's see ifs only been almost a year since my last entry, couldn't have been that much that has happened (yeah right!).
Since this is a homeschool blogger I guess I could start with the homeschool stuff.  Every day is an adventure, what more can I say.  Some days I cry out to God and ask if this is what I'm supposed to be doing, but most days I know there is no other place I'd have my children.  Our 5 year old is reading more and more but her favorite word still remains l-o-g, because it was her first.  Thinking back to when our 7 year old first started reading and how frustrated she would get and to hear her read now, it's amazing.  Where else but home do parents get to see the joy on a child's face when they read their first word.  The biggest homeschool adventure is our 3 year old and his baby brother.  I'm still learning how to homeschool with them.  Our 3 year olds favorite thing, at this time, is talking.  It doesn't matter what he's talking about as long as he's talking.  At the present time he's using two pencils like chopsticks and pinching my shorts with them.  Of course he's telling me everything he's doing and that he won't stab me so I won't be afraid.
This year of homeschooling has been a little challenging because I'm changing my views of schooling.  Having a teaching background I have an idea of what school should look like, but I'm finding that it doesn't always meet the needs of my children and as I look back to when I was teaching in the school systems I see that it didn't always meet the needs of the students I was teaching either.  So I'm finding myself struggling with letting go of my ideas and learning something new.  It started earlier this year when everything I saw or was reading mentioned Charlotte Mason and her PNEU schools.  I found my curiosity growing so I've been reading more about her method and finding I like this idea more and more.
I'm finding myself longwinded and yet running out of time.  Oh, well more another day, if I remember those two important keys to get here.

Countdown in over

Today was the final day for teaching in the co-op class.  It was bittersweet.  One little boy was very sad when he found that I was no longer going to be his teacher (which was made me feel kind of good) and of course I'll miss being called mommy by 6-8 little ones.  But at the same I feel a little freedom that I haven't felt in awhile.
I'm sitting here typing and all three of my children come in the room.  The 2 year old asks his 6 year old sister to read to him and the 4 year old.  There's a sense of pleasure in hearing her read to her little siblings and a definite sense of pride in her accomplishments.  Thinking back to last year and what a struggle we had with the reading process and knowing how far she's come.  (I had to chuckle she told her brother to listen because she may ask questions at the end).  What little pleasures the Lord allows us.  thank you Lord for the joy of children.

week 34

I went to the doctor yesterday for my prenatal checkup.  This pregnancy has been so different from the others.  It's hard to believe that in 6 weeks or less we'll have another member in our family.  Before we've always found out the sex of the baby, this time we opted to wait.  I'm finding it a little hard to find an outfit in which to bring the baby home.  We also like to let the other children choose a "lovie" for the baby and it's been hard to find something that could be used for either a boy or girl.  All we're finding is things in blue and pink.  Luckily we do have a couple of blankets that could be used for either sex.  What's happened to all of the green and yellow outfits?  Of course we're talking about a town where Wal-Mart is the primary shopping area.  I know it won't matter once the baby arrives, I'm just getting a little anxious.
Need to work on supper for now.  More later.

1 week left

As usual I did fairly well writing for a little while, but then life happened and I haven't been on the computer in almost a month.
I now only have one week left to teach at co-op.  It's on Halloween and I'm supposed to lead the devotion time at the beginning also.  I'm trying to decide what I want to do.  For the class I have a book titled Halloween Is It For Real? by Harold Myra.  I like what the author has to say in his note to parents, "The challenge for Christian parents is to teach our children to use this holiday to celebrate God's victory over evil and evil spirits."  While we try not to make too much out of Halloween, it's everywhere our children look and they have alot of questions.  As for the devotion at the beginning I'm still doing some reading.
Well, my son is falling apart because his sister got mud on him so I must say so long for now.

ramblings

Recently a recruiter from  a higher pay/ ability to move up the ladder job contacted my sister-in-law.  After talking with her it made me start thinking about my current job.  Being a wife, stay-at-home mommy of three that's trying to homeschool, and also working on being a homemaker is not a very well paying job (at least not in the monetary sense).  It made me start thinking how much better off we would be if I took an outside job.  We wouldn't have to struggle monthly with wondering if all of the bills were going to be paid, we could start some savings for the future, start a college fund for the children, have some of the "little" things (that keep gettting bigger) around the house fixed, if one of the vehicles needed work done maybe it wouldn't be so hard to shell out several hundred dollars just to help it pass inspection, have some extra cash so we could take a family vacation instead of just going to visit relatives, oh the list does go on and on.
But then I had to ask myself what is more important to me, having more money so we could do more and buy more or being able to spend time with my husband and my children.  I choose my family over any amount of money in the world, because I know that the Lord will provide the rest.  He's never let us down in the past and I know He won't in the future.  As for the family vacations, we made the choice to move closer to grandparents, uncles, and aunts so that the children could get to know them and have a relationship with them.  It's a choice we haven't regretted  for a moment.  The vacations will just have to wait.
Well, my daily quiet time is over so back to the grindstone.
