fianlly remembered!

I finally remembered my password.  After trying many different usernames and passwords I finally got the correct one (with help on the username).  Now whether or not it will be remembered is another story all together.  Let's see ifs only been almost a year since my last entry, couldn't have been that much that has happened (yeah right!).
Since this is a homeschool blogger I guess I could start with the homeschool stuff.  Every day is an adventure, what more can I say.  Some days I cry out to God and ask if this is what I'm supposed to be doing, but most days I know there is no other place I'd have my children.  Our 5 year old is reading more and more but her favorite word still remains l-o-g, because it was her first.  Thinking back to when our 7 year old first started reading and how frustrated she would get and to hear her read now, it's amazing.  Where else but home do parents get to see the joy on a child's face when they read their first word.  The biggest homeschool adventure is our 3 year old and his baby brother.  I'm still learning how to homeschool with them.  Our 3 year olds favorite thing, at this time, is talking.  It doesn't matter what he's talking about as long as he's talking.  At the present time he's using two pencils like chopsticks and pinching my shorts with them.  Of course he's telling me everything he's doing and that he won't stab me so I won't be afraid.
This year of homeschooling has been a little challenging because I'm changing my views of schooling.  Having a teaching background I have an idea of what school should look like, but I'm finding that it doesn't always meet the needs of my children and as I look back to when I was teaching in the school systems I see that it didn't always meet the needs of the students I was teaching either.  So I'm finding myself struggling with letting go of my ideas and learning something new.  It started earlier this year when everything I saw or was reading mentioned Charlotte Mason and her PNEU schools.  I found my curiosity growing so I've been reading more about her method and finding I like this idea more and more.
I'm finding myself longwinded and yet running out of time.  Oh, well more another day, if I remember those two important keys to get here.

LOL That is so funny, but I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you. My wife and I have done the same thing so many times.

I'm delighted to see that you've resumed your blog. You are off to a great start and I hope you are able to continue. I do know, however, how difficult that can be with little ones in the house. Thanks for reminding me of Charlotte Mason. I will study her materials and curriculum ideas again.

My daughter is 5 and she has a little brother who is almost three months old now, so we haven't done much lately other than to work on our handwriting, simple math, and reading.

Sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the good work.

Congratulations on the 3 month old!
It's always hard coming home from a trip so something I've been doing with our 5 year old this week is letting her do her Phonics with play-doh. I'll give her a word, she has to find it on a sheet of ten words, then she makes the word using play-doh. She's really been enjoying it. I even modified the idea today with our 7 year old. I let her use the play-doh and letter cookie cutters to take her spelling test. Just some ideas.
