Summer Music Camp: Part the Second

Tacked in My Journal
Unfortunately, I'm not in the mood to upload pictures, and so this post will be devoid of such excitement.  Suffice it to say that we are home safe from Memphis, all set to finish out what's left of the summer in a normal fashion.

The performances went off very well--I can't wait to see the DVD.  Patti, Michael, and Hannah had fun in their musical...well, everyone had fun.  And that's that!

As for the rest of the summer, I am looking forward to getting a few things accomplished.  High on the to-do list is finishing draft four of The Blade Unbroken, beating it into shape, and getting it sent off--I'm not quite sure I'll be able to finish by the end of the year, but I'll make it my goal.  I'm also hoping to turn dog-trainer with our two nearly-full-grown puppies: house training first, and then perhaps some agility for fun.  I'd also like to focus more on music.  I'm very inspired to make some progress on the viola, as well as begin teaching lessons in the near future.

Oh!  And I intend to make some rather large changes around here soon--I'm getting a bit tired of this template.  Time for something a bit more exciting!  I'll be sure to warn all you before I switch, to avoid any confusion. ;-)

I shall now bring this disjointed, ramshackle post to a close.  Farewell for now!

I'm glad you're getting tired of your template... hehe. Did you get Firefox 3 yet? Might be a good idea before you start working on the new one. :o)

Wow, you sound like me.

I just got home from a huge trip about a week ago. I am hoping to get one of my books done, and published soon, and I am hoping to change my template soon.
Let us all know when you get your book published, and I shall be quick to read it!

Yay!!!! Thou hast returnethed!!!

Where are you planning to send THE BLADE UNBROKEN when you finish it? I am so far away from finishing my novel that I haven't even thought about what I would do to get it published, but I am curious as to what your plans are. I am still holding out hope that you will post more of TBU, but I guess I will just have to be content to wait until it is published. *sniff*

Anyhow, it is great to have you back. I have missed you a ton.

Love you!

Well I guess that is all for now. Bye

Well, thanks for commenting. I was getting scared, but now they're coming in slowly but surely. I noticed you're dad got an account, dad4him. That last part seems popular in your family.

Words fail me when I attempt to describe how utterly, consumingly, inexorably furious with you I am. It was deceitfulness, Beth, pure and inexcusable deceitfulness.

Here I was in despair over my writing and my characters, ready to drop it all altogether. Who wouldn't be when their friend could apparently dream up a fantastic, complex plotline right off the bat and just a few weeks have a good five chapters up? And, more than that, have her characters beautifully designed and portrayed and just perfect in the first five chapters?

What was I to conclude, I ask you? Either you were some kind of brilliant natural genius, or I simply sucked. And as I knew the former was, quite frankly, highly unlikely, what was I to conclude but the latter? This is the sort of torture you have put me through over the last months, Beth. And now I discover that all my fears were unfounded; you've been working on it for over a year now and this was your second draft! Or perhaps an even later draft!

Words fail me.

*words fail her*

*takes a deep breath*

*is all furied out*

*tries again, with a smaller breath this time*

Beth, do you get a grasp of the anguish you could have prevented just by disclosing that vital snippet of information?

*sigh*

Well, I might be thankful I found out now, I suppose, before I had a chance to utterly despair and give up writing altogether...

*sigh*

Anyhow, I shall move on. I'm sure you didn't do it maliciously.

Well, I hope you didn't, anyway.

Anyhow, NaNaWriMo... you know, I was considering not doing it in protest because even the moniker is ridiculously difficult to say. But then I remembered ACWCHBWoF and decided it was a rather hypocritical excuse. So it appears I will be doing it. You must remember, however, that it means I will have no time for blogging at all for the whole of the month, or chatting for that matter. It shall be done at the expense of HSB. Now are you so eager for me to join? ;)

Amen about excercising! I can never get that one right, either. As if the 's's and 'c's weren't bad enough, I'm always sticking an extra one by the x. *eyeroll* Since you Americans were in the business of changing the English language, why didn't you have a go at changing irritating words like that one? Starting by doing away with 'c' altogether? If you're going by function rather than style it's a completely redundant letter. And if you're going to do away with the classy 'u's then you may as well do it properly and actually beat some sense into the dreadful language. *shakes head despairingly*

And yes, I now have a post comment link. Hallelujah indeed! That's been bugging me for months now; I just haven't had any spare brainpower to fix it up with lately.

Aha! I knew you'd say something like that! Which is, incidentally, just why I asked you... you're very predictable, Beth. *gives a contented sigh* Now, of course if I was being fair and wanting people to make an informed decision - or if I was talking to people who knew something of the ACW - I would have represented both sides very nicely. Not that the North really had much going for them apart from the treaty thingy, of course.

However, you must remember that I was not trying to be fair and upright. I was pushing an agenda. This was an exercise in propaganda. And I could indulge in it with impunity, since my readers know nothing of the ACW and are blank slates for me. Besides, Kiwis are always willing to believe anything against those in power, and anything anti-American especially. Sorry about that, but you guys are the big, powerful, self-contained and self-absorbed nation of the world today, and it's something you're just going to get with that position from just about all the other countries of the world. And It's not like we don't like Americans themselves, it's just the idea of America... the big powerful government... the fact you guys are so jolly enormous... *waves hands expressively*

I mean, the fact the country's so enormous, of course, not the people. ;) Of course.

Oh yes, about Rean Hammon! *giggles naughtily* You know, you may be right there... I've had so much fun teasing her about it on iChat! First I listed all the ways in which Rean Hammon might have been deceiving her about his goodness and might turn on her, and when she got predictably furious and told me it was just because I was jealous and wanted him for myself I proceeded to list all the ways in which he was utterly unsuitable for me and I wouldn't want him anyway. Predictably, she blew up at me. It's definitely a sensitive area, you know. Anyhow, see how cruel I am? I've been rubbing it in... she really does ask for it, though, with all her boasting of very public revenge plots and accusations of jealousy... it's still inexcusable meanness, of course. Sometimes, though, I feel I just can't help myself! I'm awful, I really am. Maybe I should eat more pineapple lumps. *sighs longsufferingly*

You know, I really must post pictures when I write up on the ball. You're absolutely right. Of course, that will mean a significant delay since we had a guy being photographer for us and we're probably not going to get the pictures back until next week at least... but at least you all have a post to tie you over in the meantime, now. And it'll mean I won't have to rush to finish the post, and you'll all get a far more satisfying one, rather than my usual long-winded ramble. You know, that's a great idea. You're a genius, Beth!

Now, that wasn't your proper comment in reply to my big comment I've been waiting so long for, was it? Because this reply is twice as long as it was, and this isn't even very long at all. Final stats are:

Your last comment: 505 words
My reply: 1329 words
My enormous comment: Well, actually, I have no idea how long it was, seeing as theres no way to go back to old posts on your blog. But at a guess I'd say at least 2000, and probably nearer to the 3000 mark.

Which reminds me, this is getting rather long, and I had better leave it for now.

Oh, one last thing! The Annie Moses band; they are awesome, aren't they? :D They're planning to tour Australia this year or early next year and were going to tack New Zealand onto the end of their trip. *eyeroll* We've been trying to convince them that it's rather impossible to tack such a demanding nation as we anywhere, and they're going to have to plan in a more significant visit or they'll find themselves kidnapped and kept here by force until they provide satisfaction, but so far to no avail. They seem to think that Australia, being bigger, is more worthwhile. *extra big eyeroll* Oh well, they'll learn eventually, I guess...

Alright, I shall be off. What say we meet up and chat on Gurthang, sometime? ;)

-- Altariel

P.S. It has occurred to me, on rereading, that this comment is actually pretty mean. Please don't take any of the teasing personally; it's simply due to the fact I'm writing this in the morning, and I'm never t my best in the mornings. However, when I write in the afternoon I'm always lazy and never write much, and when I write at nighttime I get all silly and blond, which is never pretty. So you can take your pick: would you rather have long, prickly comments in the morning; short, sweet comments in the afternoon or utterly silly comments at night? I'll leave it up to you...

Thankyou so much, I now know how to upload pictures, but I can't post them because of their size. But atleast uploading them is something, you can veiw them on my photo album,
