CPR classes and other things

Hello, all. First of all, I was wondering if anyone else is getting a new option on their blog about making a new page. I'm not sure if it's something to be avioded or if it's an answered prayer. Will it get rid of my current blog, or will it be another one? How will people know which one to use? Those questions.

And now I would like to state the reason for my absence at WinterJam. I was at Blass. Blass scout reservation. Yep. My crew and a couple others were there to take Wilderness first aid and CPR. It was really cool. I had to retake 2 of the 3 tests though because on the first one, I got the bubbles mixed up and on the second one, I got confused with all the different containers and methods with which to give someone emergancy oxygen. I got it all straightened out eventually, so I passed. Are you proud of me? heehee.

The only people who went from my crew were me, RookyGirl, and PinkHair. We were the only girls there. (Not that we minded. ) There was 1 woman leader, but that was it. There was 1 or 2 other crews/troops with us. Lets see, there were *bobs head while counting silently* 4, 5, or 6 other youths there. One I couldn't tell about though. I heard rumors that he was in his 20's, and I saw proof that he wasn't a learner there. Besides this, he smoked, and none of the grown-ups stopped him. (I'll call him Smokey for the purpose of this entry.) Evidence that he wasn't underage... He was the scenario coordinator. Ah! the scenarios! Those were my favorite part!

We needed some practice with our newly-acquired first aid knowledge, so we had about half the group (about 6 of us) (there were more leader learners than youth learners) act out individual -- but simultaneous -- accidents that we could come upon in everyday situations and on a trail. At first we did them inside, and those were cool. (pretty literally because of the cold, stone floor we victims had to lie upon) But I liked the outside one better. *big grin* We were given more complex injuries to perform outside. Like mine: I was 8 ft. up in a tree hanging up a bear bag when I looked down and saw 2 of my buddies catch on fire by our campfire. (my guess was a grease fire while they were cooking, but that information wasn't included) I freaked out and fell the 8ft. drop out of the tree and fractured my left forearm and foreleg. Ouch. I was supposed to not be able to feel something on my body, but I forgot which part, so that was next to ignored by me. Well, when our rescuers arrived, the burned victims were the first to be spotted. I was overlooked for several minutes because of the great misfortune of being under a clump of trees and in camo. Darn. When I was finally found, I was treated. I got to be carried on a backboard and in an emergancy litter. It was fun! And Smokey was genuinly impressed and proud of my performance and convincing screams of pain. I had a blast. Mainly because I haven't been able to perform anything for the longest time and to have such an attentive audience was thrilling. :) Lots of fun! When I was a rescuer, I had to rescue a guy who had been mountain bike riding and had somehow been thrown off his bike into a tree, and fallen out of the tree onto a picnic table. Truly amazing. (We all know that he just didn't want to lay on the ground, but he says he was being creative. Riiight...) It was an interesting task getting him off the table and into the carrying litter though. Needed backup for that one!

We girls were expecting to have to rough it big time outside, so we had packed for cold nights and the whole shabang. Nope. At last minute we were moved into a nice, warm, cozy lodge with excellent heat and a ladies room. Boy were we disappointed! I know that sounds wierd, but can you imagine being all fired up to use up the storerooms of your own body heat for a weekend then have heat blow into your face in a cozy room? It's not nice. The kitchen was pleasant though. Very nice. Even given the factor that we had to avoid little flying guests (wasps and dirtdobbers). They didn't have a reservation. Grr.

So I had a great time. And now I'm authorized to give emergancy medical treatment, CPR, and use a defibulator (that shocky thing that can put the heart back in regular beat. Haha! don't mess with me!) I just kinda hope that I never do have to say, "Hey, are you ok? My name is writergirl, and I have first aid medical training. Do you want me to help you?" .......

And here I was thinkin' you were talking your family for another drive. :) I mean it kindly.

To answer your question about the blog thing: I have that button too. I think it just adds another blog 'cause I have two friends on my list that have newly acquired blogs. It simply just adds another blog to your present blog instead of creating a whole new account. If that makes a bit of sense.

Maybe you can go to WinterJam09. We can all go. :D Yeah, that'd be great.

I gotta go. Brother's scaring me what with his "Old man-ness"

Bye-cha. Kayla.

I forgot! Smokey sounds like a character out of a book I read once. >:D

My favorite line in the post: "And Smokey was genuinly impressed and proud of my performance and convincing screams of pain."

XD XD XD *rotflmbo* I shall never forget that small phrase. XD XD

Bye-cha. Kayla.

I like the way your blog looks. My parents are major sci-fi people, so I've been kinda bred into it. :) I don't mind at all. Star Wars, Star Trek; it's all a part of life. :)

yeah, I hope I never have to ask someone if I have to save their life either....
