I apologize for the lack of any Writer’s Talk posts in such a long time. They’ve slipped out of my mind. However, don’t worry, Writer’s Talk isn’t dead, and here's the next one to prove it!
Which authors have had the most impact on your writing style, content or genre? How have they affected your writing?
DICKENS impacted my writing so much with Bleak House, it is weird. A lot of the characters have similiarities in that one, and he taught me how to vary my sentences. And Dicken's The Pickwick Papers taught me humour. Oh, I forgot to say, Bleak House taught me drama and romance. And Bleak House taught me sympathetic characters. Dickens taught me to have fun with my characters' last names, like I should make the last names sort of have something to do with the character or match them, sort of. Sorry, I'm rambling. I'm gonna go watch BLEEEEEAK HOOOOOUSE!!!
OH, don't even get me STARTED on this topic! =D
Like Barrie said, DICKENS! Mainly Bleak House, like Barrie again. The characters and plots in it are so wonderfully complex and twist in with each other. I have a few characters based on characters by him, just because he does them so well!
Also, I must say I like the way Snicket(not me Snicket, the REAL Snicket) writes, because he has alot of humor in the books, and I like the way how you can make up where and when his stories take place.
Lewis is also a great author, and I think he was the one that inspired me to write in the first place. His stories just drag you in to the plot.
God Bless,
The Infamous Snick
Hmmm, I've read alot of books from tons of different authors, but I think J. K. Rowling has been an inspiration to me. She is DEFINITELY not a christian, but the way she writes is absolutely amazing. She can fit drama, romance, action, and humor into just one book, which continues to baffle me. She gives every character she writes about his or her own distinct personality which singles that character from the rest.
Oh yeah, she is totally the inspiration for my writing. (cheezy grin :)
Well, I guess I've been inspired most by C.S. Lewis and George Orwell. They write very well in the Screwtape Letters and 1984 and both of those books tie in a lot to do with serious things as well as the occaisional funny scene and it kinda inspires me to be...I guess serious in my writing. Since so far I haven't posted any of my writings on here (because I'm far to scared) I guess no one knows what I'm on about but oh well :D

Tolkien has been a very big influence on my fantasy writing, which is most of the non-school work writing that I do. I love Tolkien's style and I struggle sometimes to come up with original fantasy concepts, instead of copying his ideas.
I've started history books of my fantasy worlds as well, because I love history. Those are more influenced by ancient historians, such as Herodotus.
I would love to see some of your writing, and how it is partly serious, Godzilla. I'm intrigued. Please post some!
Saturday 20 June 2009 - My brothers and sisters are the main ones to have an impact on my writing

Writers that have an impact? I like to keep my own style, but I do often study different books by various different authors to see how they write it - I especially like seeing how Charles Dickens wrote his.
But the people who really do have the main impact on my story are my brothers and sisters and Mum and Dad.
That probably sounds strange, but this is why. I like the encouragement from my mother and father, if it wasn't for the way they encouraged me I would never have finnished a book yet, but I have finnished something like three now, also my brothers and sisters. My brothers and sisters are infact, the main reason. The book I have been writing is based on the games that we used to play when we were younger, and what we still play now - so that is probably why it is so full of dragons lifting peoples cars into the air and cops and robbers and running through war-torn cities escaping bombs and tanks.
Also it was by my brothers request that in the second version Philip Joe would be the main character because he was their favourite character, Chatty even said she thought it wasn't so interesting without him in it, so I decided he should be the main character if they wanted it like that, and soon I discovered that they were right! It did make the book more interesting.
I really really really think those wonderfull brothers and sisters of mine have made a massive and fantastic impact on my writing - they helped me decide what some of the characters would be like, and because of them, this book still is not finnished and it has reached chapter thirty and is really really really long and they keep giving me new ideas!
