"The Dark Forest": Part Eleven

Posted in Posted by Martha Finley

"Do not worry, my dear. You will be fine,  I should know" smiling the old woman led Penny to the king.

Penny's fear was gripping her stomach. She could not undertand why this king, a king she knew nothing of, wanted to see her. Praying and holding on to thoughts of home were the only things that kept her from fainting. She had never known such a fear as she had now. Noticing the people she passed, she realized they were of high status, and guessed she must be near the place where the king was.

They continued on for quite sometime, until they were infront a large white door. The door had two very tall guards infront of it, but when they saw the old woman and Penny, they bowed thir heads and opened the door. The taller of the two entered the room and called out,

" Her Highness, Queen Glada, and her highness Princess Penny are here to see your Majesty, King of the Dark Forest". He stepped aside and bowed his head.

Princess? Penny thought. I am no princess, perhaps......

Before she could voice her thoughts, the old woman, or the Queen, grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the large throne room. Keeping her head faced to the ground, she followed the lead of the old queen, and all the way she felt the prick of the stares she was being given by the people of the court.

The king rose when he saw the Queen, and Penny. He stepped lightly down from where the throne was, and made his way to them. Penny dared not to look him in the face, but she knew he was infront of her, for all fell silent and two feet stood before her. Not a mouth said a word, and the silence was too much for Penny to bear. She lifted her head upward to look upon the face of the king....to be continued, the good LORD willing.

GOD bless,

Martha Finley

I wonder why they called her princess? Oh, well, I suppose the answer to that will be in the next part.
Yes it is quite - quite unusual, and unusual books are cooler I think, atleast it doesn't seem to be another of those fantasy copying the narnia/lordoftherings' style - there is too much narnia/lordoftheringsstyle that I have noticed everyone seems to be trying to write. I like it when things are different. Otherwise, there IS a Narnia and Lordoftherings all ready without everyone trying to make more of them - aren't fantasy writers supposed to be writing something different and unusual anyway? That's what I think *grins*
anyway bye for now
