Should We make a new Inklings blog?

Posted in Writers Talk

I know I posted this last week, but I made the mistake of making it too long for anybody to have time to read (whoops!) so here is the questions, I promise to do a proper writer's talk next week!

Where can I find the Inklings’ chatzy? I can’t find the link on the site, and I don’t know the address.  It sounds like a great place for writers to “talk shop” and discuss their art.

What do you guys think (leaders especially) about creating a new blog on the Inklings account, alongside the Bible Studies and retold fairy tales blogs, for writing about the art of writing? So Writer’s Talk would be posted there, as well as any discussions about writing or questions etc. The reason behind it is that since Inklings is so large (yay!) and everybody posts so regularly (double yay!) the “discuss-type” posts get pushed down out of sight before there’s a chance for much conversation. If we had a separate blog for it, the discussions would stay current for much longer, giving us a chance to get real conversations going without digging through the archives.

What do you guys think? I haven’t tried the Chatzy (I intend to!), do you think that the Chatzy does it all? Or is there some advantage in having a discussion about writing blog as well, since it’s linked and it’s right there?

Yes, I think the idea about the new writers' talk sounds really cool, and no, the inklings chat thing oesn't do it all at all, they just tal about normal things like "it was my birthday today" or, "I went to see my aunt today" and just things like that from what I have seen of it, so I think the discussions idea is cool!
Asfor different types of genre, well, I like to write with all sorts of different types, when I first started writing it was just normal life, then it went on to adventure and mystery stories that were rather like Enid-Blyton-style, then I decided, when I was ten, after watching bbc version of Narnia, to write a fantasy story, but ofcourse it was going to be nothing like Narnia, it was just this silly story where there is this little girl called Alison-May and her older sister and two brothers and they ran to the end of the rainbow and started climbing it and then this purple cloud came and the little girl fell onto it, but she didn't fall through it, and then they all jumped onto it and it flew to this strange land called The Valley of the Coals, and they met a talking orange horse that had a blue main and tail and it told them why the place was called "The Valley of the Coals" and it turned out that it was because in that land there with this large valley and it had all glittering rocks in it that the people, who were mainly different coloured horses that talked, of that country thought was coal, but when they took some of the rocks and stones back to home and showed their mum and dad it, they found out it was actually gold.... it really was just a silly story, I like writing comedy aswell, and my brothers and sisters and mum like it best when I write comedy, though sometimes it is very hard to suddenly get some funny ideas - however, in Dec 08, before then I couldn't write this paticular book called "The Crescent Shaped Island" and I had been writing and re-writing starts for it for four years! The longest I have ever tried to write a book! It was proving really difficult, and yet, for some reason I really wanted to get this paticular book written. Suddenly I had an idea - it was an idea to get some of my old plots which I had tried to write books on, but had failed to get past chapter 2 or chapter 1 or perhaps even the first page, and then jumble them all into the same book - so I jumbled in fantasy, comedy, mystery, adventure, normal life ( though in Averonitaca it isn't entirely normal anywhere ) ... that is the one called Avrannian Grounds I: The Scandal of the UoU - there are two main themes and about five to ten small sub-plots and scenes where people are escaping and their car gets lifted into the air by a dragon, and if it gets a little bit tedious I try to add in something funny, after capturing, banning and re-capturing the UoU finally it reaches the end and Tirrant decides he doesn't want to be a politician any more - he decides to be a bankrobber instead, and the main character, who just happens to be a policeman, and Tirrant's worst enemy, in book 2 in the series, accidentially gets Tirrant's message saying to get everything ready at the bank instead of the other person who is supposed to get it........... but that but where the message is got happens in book 2 which is called Avrannian Grounds II: The Mystery of Steppington Castle. I like to jumble all sorts of different plots and genres and themes into the same book, not to mention characters aswell....
anyway, bye for now
