How
Here's another song that I'm working on. Feedback would be much appreciated for any of my songs as I'm still a bit new to song writing. Any suggestions are welcome!
How
How is it,
That you can see my pain?
How is it,
That you can see through the mask,
That I so carefully created?
You know how I feel,
You knew how I'd feel,
Before I was born,
How is that?
CHORUS
You are all I need,
To fill the hole in my heart,
You were everything I needed,
To cease the aching deep inside.
So long I've tried,
To cover my sin,
So long I've tried,
To run away from all the,
Problems in my life,
Act like nothings wrong,
Just hide behind my smile,
And hope that it's enough,
But knowing I needed something more.
CHORUS
I didn't know,
That You were waiting for me,
I didn't know,
That You were knocking,
Just waiting for me to open the door,
Let You in, surrender myself,
To Your love, Your grace,
So that You could fill me to the brim,
You wanted to show me that.
CHORUS
So finally I let you in,
And I knew at once that,
I wouldn't have to hide anymore,
You had taken over my life,
Washed me whiter than snow,
Now I can never me ashamed,
Because you are my king,
And I have something to live for,
All along you were all I needed.
CHORUS
Leave a Clue

I liked your song. But there are some things I would like to point out to you:
You said "You are all I need,
To fill the hole in my heart,
You were everything I needed,
To cease the aching deep inside. " You mentioned a hole in your heart. But there is no Bible verse that talks about a hole in your heart. That is just terminoligy that (sadly) has developed recently.
Also you said "That You were knocking,
Just waiting for me to open the door,
Let You in, surrender myself," If you are refering to the verse in the Bible that talks about Jesus knocking on the door, proper hermanudics show that it was talking about the church not a person's heart.
I hope that you don't become offended at my criticing but I like for things to be biblically correct.
I did like how you focused on sin.
When are you going to post more of Kit's story? I like reading your stories. Keep up the good work.

Hi, I thought I'd comment on the comment by our friend, Saved Girl.
I agree with Saved Girl in the fact that yes, these are not ideas backed up in Scripture, and they've been spread through the years. If you were writing a non-fiction book to help people grow in Christ and learn theology or Bible, then I'd think of different ways to say things so that they are biblically sound.
However....poetry is one of the areas in which MUCH literary license is given--even hyperole is acceptable. (Hyperbole is exaggeration for effect). In this context, I find your wording flows well with what you're trying to express. It puts within the reader a sense of something missing from life ("hole in the heart") and the fact that Christ is calling one to be saved ("knocking").
Painting a picture is what poetry does, and you did it well.
To be perfectly fair, however, I do know that now days many songs (poems set to music) in the church are watered down, feel-good songs that are not exactly the best doctrine around. On the other hand, a song my little Sparks used to sing in AWANA (and an all-time favorite) is Revelation 3:20:
"Behold, behold, I stand at the door and knock, knock, knock!
Behold, behold, I stand at the door and knock, knock, knock!
If anyone hears my voice;
if anyone hears my voice, and will open, open, open the door, I will come in."
How can you go wrong singing the Scriptures, eh? :-)
Those are my thoughts---for what they're worth.
