Before: It rained all week during our camping trip.
After:
Raindrops pattered consistently as we sat in our tent, trying to amuse ourselves but failing utterly. It was as if they were bent on out-waiting us, determined to ruin our trip, and they succeeded. For a week we waited but to no avail, when we went home I was quite sure I never wanted to go camping again.

Before: Katie saw a scary sea creature at the aquarium.
After:
Ten-year-old Katie gasped as a scaled creature swam up to the glass at the aquarium. It was twice her size and seemed to be thinking that she would make a nice meal. Its light grey, shark-like body waved and quivered in the water as it stayed in one place, staring Katie down with its steely dark grey eyes.

Before: As I entered the cave, I found the object of my search—the lost treasure chest of the Ancients.
After:
About two feet long and half that wide the wooden box sat on the smooth stone floor. The lid was closed tightly and the bright jewels embedded in the gold trim told me that I had at last found the Lost Treasure Chest of the Ancients. Cobwebs covered the box and the corners of cave that I was now in. Cautiously I started forward, but not as quickly as Bingo, my little dog. He trounced towards the box, as if he knew that our search was over at last. Nothing seemed threatening so I didn't try to call him back, then I saw them.
"Bingo! Back!" I shouted, my voice echoing around the stone walls.
Too late, a hissing noise and a yelp told me that I had seen rightly. A neatly set trap had been laid in the cave wall and the barbed arrows that I had seen would have killed anyone who tried to get by. Bingo's white and brown spotted coat brushed against my leg and a whine escaped his muzzle. I crouched down next to him and examined him. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw that the worst was a wound in his haunch, nothing serious.
"Maybe next time you'll stay by me eh?" I rubbed his side and stood back up, brushing a piece of my thick black hair away from my brown eyes. Keeping alert for any other surprises, I made my way to the chest and blew the dust off of it. My hand probed my pocket for the key and soon the lid was open. Before me lay the greatest treasure I had ever seen before in all my adventures and travels. Bingo nosed it and looked at me inquiringly.
"Yep, that's it. Our journey is over at last."

Another lesson! You really should do this, it is fun and interesting!!!!

I shall try to get a picture of a ship done and get it onto my computer.

[1] Five 'dead' words:
a. strange
b. exciting
c. small
d. colorful
e. perfect

[2] Le tour de my roomeh! =D
The floor, though recently cleaned, has several books laying in a pile next to my sister's unmade canopy bed. Next to her bed stands a circular white table which is littered with books and papers. The two shelves that are in the table are full of CDs and magazines. Next to the table there is a purple and silver radio sitting on a cardboard box that has two drawers in it and is decorated with sea shell wallpaper. On the wall opposite to my sister's bed is a white dresser with seven drawers in it, all closed. On the dresser are four porcelain dolls, a dog statuette, some books, and a cage containing two rats. The dresser has a mirror on the back that has several photos stuck on the edges. Next to the dresser is a wooden doll cradle that is partly in front of the closet's white sliding doors that aren't closed. The closet is full of clothes, mostly shirts, skirts, and dresses. Half of the closet is shelves, which are full of books, papers, fabric, folded pants and overalls, crafts, ribbons, and trophies. On the right of the dresser is the light switch, followed by the door and then a wall. Along that wall is my unmade canopy bed. Next to my bed is a tall, square, wooden table. On it is my white lamp, my collection of little plastic dogs, my black and silver clock, and then a few papers. The table has a drawer that is closed and then a closed door that has three glass pieces in it. Each glass piece has a photo in it. My guitar leans against my table and next to my guitar is a blue and cream-colored box that is closed. Also next to it is a glass aquarium that houses a little brown snake. The head of my sister's bed is on the right of my guitar.

The walls are a medium shade of tan. There is a window next to my guitar and two windows next to my sister's white table. The floor is made of wooden boards. In the center of the white ceiling hangs a fan with a light bulb on it, there is no cover because my sister broke it. xD

This is another assignment, I'm supposed to show, not tell, an emotion with one of my characters.

Kit buried her face in her arms, letting out a heavy sigh as she allowed herself to relax for a moment. All to soon she had to sit back up and start reading again, her eyelids drooping. She yawned and rubbed her eyes furiously, trying to focus on the words on the page.

Kit -- Main Character
Kit Schwester is twenty-two years old and lives in America. She grew up in Germany with a brother, a sister, and her parents. From the start it was plain that she wasn't anything like her boy-crazy sister. She had, and still has, no interest in flirting and has hated sewing and any other activity like it ever since she can remember. She grew up without any animals around except for a loud canary that her sister owned so she doesn't really care about animals too much. She is fearless and foolhardy, rushing into things without considering what may happen as a result. She has probably never looked before she leaped. She is a great leader, usually not overbearing or too bossy, though she does expect to be obeyed once she has given an order. She never backs down from a challenge. She has a quick and sometimes saucy tongue, though she doesn't always say things straight out. She has a dry sense of humor and a clever and retentive mind. After graduating early from school, Kit went to a college in Germany where they recommended that she go to a bigger college in America. She went, despite the disapproval of her parents. She now works as a police/detective. Kit is tall and slim. Her glossy hair is of a rich chestnut brown and it waves down past the middle of her back. Her serious brown eyes complete her beauty. Her mother had expected that she would make a great match but finally gave up on the thought when she saw how much she disliked being around boys.

Annette -- 2nd Main Character
Annette Woodworth is seventeen. She lived in a happy and caring family from birth with two sisters. She is an extrovert, loving to be in the spotlight and talking nonstop. She makes friends very quickly and no one is a stranger to her. Her long brown hair is usually kept back in a braid and she has a lot of freckles on her face. Nothing seems to bring her down and she makes light of most things no matter how serious they may be.

Haley
Haley Trimms is twenty. She had a normal childhood and a pretty normal life period. She is not shy, but neither is she super talkative, though she likes to chat quite a bit with her friends. She has a great imagination, and so is very creative, but the bad thing about her imagination is that it is quite wild and she can scare herself rather badly with it. She is jumpy and easily frightened, and always seems to make bad things seem worse than they really are. Her hair is a medium shade of brown and she keeps is at shoulder length because she hates to have her hair in the way. Her eyes are a pretty hazel. She isn't really tall, but neither is she short, just right in the middle. She has this thing about bracelets, and always seems to be wearing a dozen on her wrists.

Sophia -- Stable Worker
Sophia Ferrel is seventeen. She had a rough beginning to life, her mother was weakened by her birth and caught a serious disease when she was young. When Sophia was only two her mother was dead and her father hated her because he saw it as her fault that his wife was dead. Sophia had an older sister that took care of her as much as she could between her job and school. When Sophia was only nine she was making her own meals and getting to school on time. Her sister had moved away by this time and so she had to take care of herself completely by herself. She worked hard, getting a job at a dog grooming parlor early on because of her natural ability to get along with animals. When she graduated she moved away from her home and went to college with money that she had saved up. She eventually got a job at High Ridge Stables and works there quietly. She never draws attention to herself and is actually fearful of people. She loves animals though and they seem to understand her better than any person could. She likes to wear hats a lot, and usually keeps them pulled down pretty low over her face so that people can't see the pain in her eyes. Her hair is light light brown, almost blond, and her eyes are blue, just like her mother's.

Sadie -- Stables Owner
Sadie Carroway is twenty-eight and has been around animals all her life. She lived on a farm with her parents, two brothers and three sisters. She was the oldest and so is used to being the leader. She just hates being told what to do and doesn't think that anyone really has a right to tell her what to do. She often tells others what, when, and how to do things, and she expects them to do it without asking questions. This is something that she knows is a weakness of hers and she has been trying very hard lately to get better at her bossiness. She is in love with animals, which is probably why she started the stables for they are her very favorite animal. She has blond hair, with she usually keeps pulled back so that it doesn't get in the way. Her eyes are blue.

Jeremy -- Works Alongside Kit
Jeremy is twenty-one. He has led a pretty normal life. He had two normal parents, a normal brother and lived in a normal neighborhood. His father was a policeman and so at an early age Jeremy knew that he wanted to be a policeman when he grew up. He worked towards this goal, though he had trouble more than once because he has trouble concentrating at times and doesn't like to have a lot of work to do all the time. He eventually got used to it, but he does sometimes have trouble with not wanting to do something. He loves to tell jokes and is always eager to please others. He always seems to be happy and finds it hard to be serious at any time. He likes to hang out with his friends, in fact he loves to be around his friends, he very much dislikes being alone. He has short brown hair and brown eyes that always seem to have a mischievous gleam in them, for he is quite a prankster.

This is another lesson...

Lord of the Rings

Write the name of a character you really liked: Eowyn
My favorite character is Eowyn because she is so brave. Her bravery got her wounded in Return of the King but it also enabled her to keep her uncle from getting eaten by a monster. I also like her because she is loyal and also a little shy, like me.
Write the name of a character you didn’t like or were afraid of (the bad guy.): Gollum
My least favorite character is Gollum because he is so sneaky. It always seems like he is plotting something, and he is especially creepy when he talks to himself. He is just really 'messed up' and unpredictable and that is that main reason that he scares me.

My Story [Part 10] --

“Joseph! You found Joseph!” Sadie ran up to Kit and Jeremy. “Where was he?”

“In the woods,” Kit watched as Sadie took the reigns and patted Joseph on his shoulder. She led him up to the barn, tied him to the hitching post, and expertly began running her hand over him.

“Well,” Sadie remarked. “He isn't hurt or anything, and he isn't very muddy. He looks as if he has been groomed recently in fact.”

The other workers had stopped their work to look at Joseph, he was obviously a popular horse at the stables for all of the girls looked happy at his return. Haley was the only one that went on with her work without ceremony, though she had given the horse a good look when he came up.

“What's this?” Sadie drew an envelope from where it had been hanging partly out of the saddlebag.

Kit trotted over, ignoring the horse as she looked over Sadie's shoulder to see “Annette” written on the front of the envelope.

“Annette?” Sadie called. Her reply was the energetic girl bouncing over.

“What's up?” Annette asked before taking the envelope that Sadie held out to her. She looked at it quizzically, then tore it open. She drew out a paper that looked like the one Sadie had gotten earlier and read it. Her eyebrows knitted together and she looked up at Sadie. “It says, 'Come to the large oak by the creek tomorrow morning at seven if you want to know where your friend is. Come alone.'”

Sadie stiffened. “Well, they certainly don't give up easily do they?”

Kit shook her head. “They usually don't.”

“So should I go or not?” Annette folded the paper back up and put it in the envelope. “I mean if I get information then that's good right?”

Sadie shook her head. “Kidnappers aren't known for telling the truth, they're probably just trying to get you away from everyone,” she looked at Kit. “You agree?”

Kit crossed her arms as she stared off at the horizon. “Actually, maybe she should.”

“What?!” Sadie exclaimed incredulously. “You can't think that that is a good idea!”

Kit's eyes focused on Sadie. “Do you know the place that they appointed to be the meeting place?”

“Yes,” Sadie admitted.

“Does it have much brush around it?”

“A little, but the little it has is really thick.”

Kit smiled. “That'd be perfect! Annette can go to the oak while I and some other police hide in the brush! Then if the kidnappers look like their going to do something we can pop out and nab 'em!”

Sadie looked skeptical. “They'd most likely know that we are there.”

“That's the chance we'll have to take. Look, either she doesn't go or she doesn't go. If she doesn't then we gain nothing. If she does go I wouldn't advise her to go alone because it is obvious she had been targeted. If we hide in the trees and no one shows up because they spot us how much worse are we off? At least we would know that we tried. What do you think of the plan Annette?”

Annette had been listening in grave silence but now she broke into a grin. “Sounds exciting! I'm all for it!”

Kit was glad that at least one person liked her plan, but then again, Annette was bound to like anything. Still, she was looking forward to having some action and maybe catching the kidnappers. “I'll be going now since things have calmed down. I and some other police will be here at six tomorrow. I want to be able to get settled into our hiding place early. If you,” Kit turned to Sadie. “And someone else could walk Annette down to the oak tree and then head back to the stables that would be great. I don't want there to be any danger of something happening to her on the way.”

Sadie nodded. “I can do that. We just drop her off and go all the was back to the barn?”

“Yes, someone might shadow you to make sure that you go all the way back. Just act like you don't see them and continue with whatever you do when you get back.”

“Alright then. We'll see you tomorrow,” Sadie led Joseph to the pasture then turned to wave at Kit and Jeremy as they got into their cars.

My Story [Part 11] --

Posted in My Main Story

A blade of grass tickled Kit's arm as she lay on her belly behind a deep green bush. Nearby on either side of her were hidden other police, all waiting and hoping for something to come of this. She shifted her position a little, feeling the uncomfortable prick of a thistle against her leg. They had been waiting for nearly an hour, though it felt as though the sun would be setting soon. The arms on Kit's watch seemed to slow and stop completely, only the steady tick told her that it was indeed still working. She stared out at the place that had been appointed by the kidnappers as a meeting place. There was no mistake what tree they had been talking about, the oak that stood three yards from the creek was massive; the largest Kit had ever seen. The creek was pleasant enough, only a yard or two wide and quite shallow.

The sun had risen, its warm yellow rays falling down to the earth in a cloudless blue sky. It was so still that Kit could hear the babbling of the creek as the water danced and splashed across the smooth rocks that made up its bottom.

The swish and crunch of footsteps across dew laden grass caused Kit to turn her head. There was Sadie, closely followed by Annette and her friend Christopher. Kit had met him only that morning and found him to be a charming, smiling person; eager to talk but also eager to listen.

Now Christopher and Sadie were moving away, back to the path that they had come from. Annette walked around the tree and then leaned up against it, her back towards the woods. So she stood and Kit held her breath as she crossed her fingers and wished that something would happen. Ten minutes passed; nothing showed itself. Annette grew bored and took to gathering some of the smooth rocks in the creek. Ten more minutes and still nothing had happened. Kit looked down at her watch to double check the time. Maybe it had just been an idle joke, or maybe it hadn't been and the kidnappers had just known the police were there and didn't dare show their faces. At seven forty-five Kit sighed and sat up, not caring if she made noise. It wasn't any use now, the kidnappers weren't coming. She stood up and strode out to Annette, who had been amusing herself with braiding the thick grass.

“Well,” Kit looked around small clearing. “I guess we may as well head back, they aren't going to be coming today so there wouldn't be any use in hanging around.”

Annette bounced up and brushed off her jeans. “Oh well,” her sunny smile not showing any signs of dying. “Maybe they changed their minds or something.”

Kit shrugged. “Maybe, I feel more like they knew that we were here though, and that is why they decided not to come out.”

“Yeah, maybe,” Annette started off to the path and Kit followed. Kit was genuinely disappointed with the failure they had suffered. Had they been able to catch the men they would have come a long way in explaining things and would have come much closer to recovering the lost girl. Now they weren't any closer than they had been before, and Kit couldn't bear that thought. She and Annette walked in silence, but very different silences. Kit's was one of disappointment, Annette's was one of enjoyment. She was having fun with this, being the center of a mystery had seemed to make her day, it didn't scare her in the least. Kit was so absorbed in her own thoughts that she didn't hear Annette's footsteps slow and then halt altogether. She ran right into her. They nearly toppled over, Kit catching herself quickly and then reaching out to grab Annette's hand.

“I'm sorry about that,” Kit apologized with a blush. Fine example she was being of a police, making wrong guesses and then not watching where she was going.

“That's fine,” Annette smiled but didn't move forward. “I stopped because I thought I heard something over there,” she motioned to the woods on the left side of the path.

Kit listened intently for a moment. “Well I don't hear anything, maybe we scared it off when we ran into each other.”

Annette nodded. “Yeah, probably, but...” She was cut off as something could clearly be heard crashing towards them.

Kit had her gun out in a flash, pushing Annette behind her and taking aim at where the crashing was loudest. She was about to call out “Stop!”, when a man burst through the brush and skidded to a halt, panting hard. It took Kit a moment to recognize the sandy colored hair. “Sam?! What are you doing?” She took in a deep breath and let it out slowly as she shakily put her gun away.

Sam eyed her, somewhat annoyed. “Well we found signs of someone snooping around near the creek. It looked like they were heading straight for the oak but then another pair of tracks ran out to meet them and they all turned back.”

Kit was all attention. “How many tracks? Were they all men?”

“There were two of them before the other came running up, and yes they were all men. What do you think, there are women kidnappers?”

Kit's eyes darkened at Sam's sarcastic reply. “Don't get smart with me. I was wondering if they had the girl with them. Since there were three kidnappers and Bethany wasn't with them when they were heading this way then we know that they left her somewhere. So they feel comfortable with leaving her alone, they are confident that she can't get away and that no one will rescue her if they leave her alone.”

Sam turned and stalked away, flinging over his shoulder the words, “The rest of the crew is heading back for the station, I'm off too so you're on your own.”

Kit's jaw clenched as she watched him go but she refrained from saying anything to him. “Come on, let's get back to the stable. We've been gone for long enough. They'll think that we've been kidnapped soon.”

Annette laughed and they kept on their way.

At the stable Kit meant to just drop Annette off and go, but Sadie had other plans.

“Kit!” She called as soon as they came into sight.

“Hi Sadie,” Kit smiled a little. “Annette's safe but nothing happened, but I guess you've probably already head that.”

“Yes, the other police gave me an update before they left,” she frowned and looked just as disappointed as Kit had looked for a moment, but then her face brightened again. “Won't you come up to the house? I know it isn't lunch time but maybe you can have a little tea or something.”

“Well,” Kit looked into Sadie's open face, unsure of what to do. She didn't particularly want to stay really, not after the last conversation they had had when they had last been alone. But she couldn't think of any good excuses to make without seeming rude. “Alright, but I can't stay for too long though.”

“Great! Let's go. Oh and Annette, Haley and Sophie are in the barn. I told them to keep an eye on you so don't think of trying to go off on your own again.”

Annette's shoulders sagged as she stumped off to the barn.

Sadie shook her head as she watched her go and then started briskly to the house. “She's too adventurous, and doesn't have the most common sense a girl can have. She tried to go on a ride yesterday by herself, made us all think she had been kidnapped.”

Kit nodded in reply to Sadie's talking. She wasn't one to speak easily with someone that she didn't know really well, and so was relieved that Sadie was fine with doing all the talking for now. On the porch Bosco was sunning himself. He looked almost dead but for his tail, which thumped on the floor as they passed.

As Kit stepped into the house she smelled the distinctive scent of cinnamon. It reminded her of her home in Germany, her mother always had some cinnamon simmering on the stove or some cinnamon sticks sitting in bowls around the house. She followed Sadie into the kitchen where she was offered a seat at a small table. The kitchen was white and shelves displayed several stoneware plates and bowls. It looked like an old country kitchen, very charming and cozy. Kit sat on a chair and enjoyed taking in the room as her hostess put some water on for tea.

My Story [Part 12] --

Posted in My Main Story

“So how long have you worked in the police force?” Sadie asked curiously.

“Oh, about two and a half years,” Kit smiled, remembering how long she had worked towards this dream that she was now living.

Sadie set some cookies on the table and then sat down in the chair opposite Kit. “Where did you grow up?”

Kit shrugged. “In a small town in Germany.”

“Oh really? Well that is neat. Why did you choose come over to America?”

“When I was sixteen,” Kit folded her arms on the table. “I finished school and decided to go to college. My teacher said that I had good potential and told me there were some better colleges here. It took a while to convince my parents but they finally let me go. We had some relatives here that agreed to keep an eye on me and I bounced around to different colleges until I found one that suited me. Since I did so much bouncing I picked up on some things that the college I finally chose didn't teach,” Kit took the tea that was handed her and then asked. “So where did you grow up?”

A smile danced on Sadie's lips as she replied. “Right here; I grew up in this very house and when my parents died they left it to me, and so I've lived in it ever since.”

Kit looked around the kitchen, clearly surprised. “You have never lived anywhere else?”

Sadie shook her head, eyes dancing.

Kit leaned back in her chair, trying to imagine herself living in one place for so long. She shook her head and let out a little laugh, the very idea was amusing for Kit wasn't one to settle down. She was restless, always having to be on the move, unless she was in the middle of an interesting report; then she may have well been glued to her chair for how little she moved.

Sadie chuckled at Kit's reaction before handing her a small bowl of sugar. “I haven't sweetened it yet, so you might want this.”

Kit spooned some sugar into her cup and sipped it carefully. They sat in silence for a little while, enjoying each other's company but also not sure what to say next.

“So...” Kit glanced at the horses that raced across the walls. “Did you parents start the stables?”

“No, we always had horses but the stables were something I started after I inherited the property,” Sadie chose a cookie from the plate. “So have you had any experience with horses?”

Kit shifted on her seat uncomfortably. I've had enough that's for sure. Out loud she added, “A little, my uncle had horses for a while.”

Sadie brightened. “Really? Because I have a group ride scheduled for tomorrow, completely on the other side of the property than where the kidnapping happened and since there will be a lot of us it should be perfectly safe. You could join us! I was going to put you on Old Blue, he's an old horse and the gentlest we have, but since you have some experience then maybe you could ride Zach! You met him the first day you were here, he's just as gentle as Old Blue, but a little faster and... is something wrong?”

Since this new conversation had sprung up about horses Kit's stomach had started to clench, and as Sadie went on to say that she expected her to come on a ride with her she felt panic start to rise so high that she felt like screaming. Her face had gone pale and though she tried to keep a bold face on it her eyes also betrayed her. They told of fear and remembrance of something terrible, a memory that had been buried deep alive again. Kit closed her eyes tight as a feeling of nausea swept over her and as her mind replayed a scene that she had tried so hard to forget. The sudden jolt, the thud, and the scream that had haunted her for eleven years; a pain in her arm, frantic voices, and then darkness.

“Kit?”

Sadie's voice broke through the memories and they fled like shadows from light, but they still lurked, ready to pounce again if she didn't distract herself.

“Yeh, yeah,” Kit's eyes opened and she steadied herself on the table. She looked around to find Sadie at her side, looking into her face. “Could I use your restroom please?”

“Yes of course, it's the second door on the right down the hall.”

“Thanks,” Kit rose and walked steadily to the restroom, leaving Sadie looked on both curiously and worried.

It took Kit a few minutes, but she finally got control over herself again. After splashing some water on her face she came out looking much better.

Sadie rose to greet her as she came into the room. It was plain that she wanted to ask what that had been all about but she refrained from asking any questions, which Kit was grateful for. The subject was changed and after an enjoyable time Kit left for home. She still felt a little sick but she was trying to divert her mind to other things, something that she had gotten good at through the years. She was having some trouble keeping her mind occupied this time and so was relieved when her cell phone began playing a bouncy tune that usually made Kit smile. She picked it up and answered it without the smallest hint of a smile.

“Kit?” It was Dan.

“Mhm.”

“Where have you been?”

“Sadie invited me to have some tea when we finished," she spoke without the least spark of life.

“I take it your idea didn't work then?”

“No.”

“Well, sometimes that's how it is. Don't get discouraged, especially since we have some development.”

Kit brightened a little. “Really? What?”

“Come by the station and I'll give you an update.”

“I'm on my way.”

A Reason

Posted in Songs

Here's another song that I'm working on:

King and creator,
What did he leave the heavens for?
The whole earth He owned,
Why should He give His life away?

On His hands don't you see?
White scars telling a story,
Look on His back,
Can you see the scourge marks?
Don't you understand what they are for?

What are these scars on His hands and feet?
Why is there a scar on His side?
Where did they come from?
Why are they there?

CHORUS:
If I told you would you believe,
That He bore their pain to free you?
Why can't you see that He really loves you?
Just trust in Him, He died for you,
Don't make His efforts vain,
He has a reason for the scars.

He came as told,
To the troubled world,
He came to save the day,
Came to save us from wrath.

Helpless and innocent,
A babe, intent,
Holy and pure,
Not as a warrior,
Not as a mighty man.

His skin was whole,
Unharmed, not a hole,
But it was only so long,
Before it would be covered with scars.

CHORUS

He was taken, tried, sentenced,
He was mocked, taunted,
By the people He came to save,
Could you do so much?

Hung upon a tree,
He did it for you and me,
The scourge fell on His back,
Nails driven into Him,
Could you have done so much?

It was finished as He died,
God's just wrath satisfied,
The price was paid,
Could you do so much?

CHORUS

He was laid in a tomb,
People sealed the room,
But death couldn't hold Him,
And He did as He said.

On the third day he rose,
Appeared to His people,
Gave them the mission,
To spread the word,
Let all people know.

He left to make a place for them,
One day He'll come again,
To gather His beloved,
All who know He has a reason for the scars.

My Story [Part 13] --

Posted in My Main Story

Kit trotted into the police station, eager to learn what developments there had been. A quick glance showed her that Dan wasn't in the main work room, which didn't really surprise her because he often went out on calls. She slipped into her chair and flipped her laptop open, ready to write a report of what they had done and what had come of it. A few hours went by and only then did Dan appear. He motioned to Kit, telling her to meet him in his office. With one glance a person could see that he wasn't a neat man for his office, though spacious, seemed tiny because of the clutter, Kit was rather surprised that he never lost anything, but he could always find what he was looking for when he needed it. She took a seat and waited for Dan to finish scribbling something onto a piece of paper.

“Well,” Dan leaned back in his chair. “What do you think has happened?”

Kit shrugged. “I haven't the slightest!”

Dan leaned forward, setting his elbows on the desk. “Annette found something in her car; a piece of paper in an envelope saying, “You weren't alone.”

Kit shook her head. “They must have been watching, but still I can't see how they would have been able to see us without us seeing them. We had people in a wide perimeter around the area just watching for anything suspicious.”

“I'm sure you had everything worked out to the tee, but we'll have to try something more clever. Put your thinking cap on, I've heard what wonders you have worked so have at it!”

Kit blushed a little at the praise and rose to go, planning on an evening at home sipping tea and sitting on her bed until the late hours of the night, as she usually did when she was thinking.

“Wait a sec,” Dan looked up at her, fingertips pressed together. “Do you think that the people bugging this, uh...”

“Annette?” Kit helped him a little.

“Yes, Annette. I was wondering, do you think that the people bugging Annette are the same that kidnapped Bethany? Or do you think they are different people or, what?”

Kit paused. It hadn't seemed that there was much of a choice there, it seemed an awful coincidence that Beth would be kidnapped and then Annette would be bothered. But then, wouldn't the kidnappers have run once they had gotten one girl? Kit shook her head and had to admit, “I don't know for sure.”

Dan shrugged. “Just something you might want to keep in mind. You can go now,” and with that he busied himself with tapping away at his computer.

Kit stumped out to her car, Dan seemed to have such high expectations of her and she was worried sick about not being able to meet them. When she looked in her drivers window she noticed an envelope sitting on her seat. Her heart beat a little quicker as she pulled the door open and seized it with eager, but also slightly nervous, hands. She hesitated in opening it, afraid of what it might contain. She hadn't ever dreamed that she might become the prey, but now she was tearing the envelope open, pushing away the disturbing thoughts. The piece of paper that it contained was by no means sinister, in fact it wasn't paper at all; but a card. It had a colorful bouquet of flowers on the front and on the inside there was penned,

I would be much obliged if you would do me the honor of going out to eat with me tomorrow at six. Please call.
Sincerely,
Jeremy

Kit let out a short laugh, how could she have been so silly as to think that someone would be stalking her. All the same she made sure to lock all of her doors before finally taking off for her place. A date tomorrow? It sounded like a much needed diversion, and Kit knew that she would especially need one after tonight.

Kit crawled into her bed and propped herself up with a pillow after phoning Jeremy to give a favorable reply and also having him try to talk her ear off. It had been twenty minutes before she was able to get off of the phone and when she had gotten off she unplugged it, a custom that she always performed whenever she was about to go into deep thinking. People knew to call her cellphone if there was an emergency since she was out so much, in fact she spent so little time on her home phone that she often considered clearing it off of her desk completely.

But now wasn't the time to think about these things, she was now settled down with her pot of tea and of coffee next to her bed, ready to do some real thinking. Her eyes went half closed as she periodically sipped her steaming tea and thought.

Something Real

Posted in Songs

This is a song that I have just about finished, I think that I'm going to play around with it a little more, try to get it to rhyme maybe. So yeah, just posting it here since this that is what this blog is for. =D

I knew what was right,
And what was wrong,
I knew better,
But still I listened to lies,
I had been told,
I would regret it,
But I did it anyway,
I tried it.

Everyone tries it,
Everyone regrets it,
Everyone needs another chance.

CHORUS:
A chance to prove,
A chance to live,
Without the guilt and shame,
A chance to live for something real.

So yeah I tried it,
And liked it,
Then the guilt flooded in,
I knew it was so so wrong,
But I didn't confess,
I heeded more lies,
Enslaved to my sin,
I trudged on.

Everyone's gone on,
Everyone's felt bound,
Everyone wants another chance.

CHORUS

Then I saw the hope,
And I saw the truth,
I saw the boundless love, open arms,
I couldn't believe that,
I'd lived for so long like this,
I had been suffocating, drowning,
But now... I'm free.

Free to prove,
Free to live,
Without the guilt and shame,
Free to live for something real.

The Coming of Dolly Llama ~ A Chapter Of A Book I'm Writing --

Posted in Other Stories

Cuddles the duck looked up from the algae she had been munching. " Hey!" she quacked. "What's that thing?"

Lemon looked up. "I don't now. Is it alive?"

Sprite glanced up and then went back to his grass. "It's a haystack." he stated matter-of-factly.

"No it's not. It just moved!" Cuddles stared hard at it.

"Look look! The haystack is moving!" Lemon called, running into the creek hurriedly.
Jack looked up. "That's not a haystack, it has legs."

"Then what is it?" Sprite stuck his bill up in the air.

"I don't know." Jack shrugged. "Let's ask that cat." He swam to the other side of the creek and called to the cat to stop. "Wait a second! I have a question! What is that thing??" He pointed with his bill to the brown fluffy thing.

Star, for that was the cat's name, glanced in the direction that it pointed in and then looked back at Jack. "That is a llama. At least that's what Ivy says." Star rubbed up against Jack. Though it may seem strange, Guess and Star were great friends with the ducks.

"Thanks!" Jack nibbled at Star's back and then splashed back into the creek. "Cat says it's a llama." Jack scooped up some water with his bill and slurped it down.

"And what does cat know about it?" Sprite asked, he wasn't one to give into acknowledging that he was wrong.

Jack looked at him flatly. "Because that's what Ivy told him."

Sprite shut his bill. He knew that if Ivy, who was old donkey of the farm, said it then it was true. They all watched as the llama was led into the barn and let into the pasture.

Star meanwhile followed close behind the people. When they left he jumped up on the top of the gate and looked at the llama. She, Ivy, and the goats were getting to know each other and he listened in, hoping to get to know the new creature.

"What's that?" Almond Joy piped. "It looks like a haystack!" she giggled.

The llama put her ears back.

Ivy glared at Almond Joy and then faced the llama. "My name's Ivy. What's yours?"

The llama looked at Ivy loftily and answered, "Dolly." Ivy nodded respectfully. "Welcome to the barn." she said and then she walked into the pasture to graze.

"Okay llama." Daisy started. "I'm Daisy and you may as well know from the start that I am the boss around here. Second only to Bandit himself. This is my daughter, Noel and she is to be respected as much as me."

Noel gave Dolly a friendly smile.

"This is Snickers," Daisy waved her horns at Snickers who 'humphed' and turned her back. "And this is Almond Joy." She nodded to Almond Joy who went on munching her hay.

Dolly stuck her nose into the air and walked out into the pasture.

The goats watched in astonishment. "How rude!" Almond Joy exclaimed.

"Hey! Wait up there! I gave you no permission to leave!" Daisy galloped after Dolly furiously.

"What do you think about that?" Noel whispered. "How do you think Bandit and her will get along?"

Almond Joy hiccuped with laughter.

"Well, it looks like we'll found out soon, there's Bandit!" Snickers called.

Bandit was the barn's guard dog, and he held the position with pride. He now marched in with his tail up. "Someone new is here." he frowned. "I wish the people would consult me before getting more animals. I am after all in charge out here." He trotted over to the opening in the fence that he went through and headed towards Dolly. "Looks like Daisy has gotten into an argument with the new comer already." He walked solemnly up to her and asked, "Okay, what seems to be the problem here?"

Daisy looked at him. "This... this... creature is ignoring me!"

"Alright." Bandit said. "You run along to the barn and I'll have a talk with her."

Daisy hesitated and then started to the barn.

"Okay you," Bandit started. "What is your name?"

Dolly went on eating grass, not paying any attention to Bandit.

"Hey! Answer me!" Bandit nipped at her heels.

Dolly kicked at him and then went on eating.

"Kick at me will you!" Bandit growled. He pranced back up to her and nipped again.

Then Dolly did the last thing he expected, she chased him.

Bandit ran, and ran fast. "Hey! Hey ! Stop!" he called.

Dolly stopped after a moment and went back to eating.

Bandit didn't know what to do, he hadn't encountered something this stubborn since he met Ivy.

Dolly glared at the confused and panting Bandit and something came onto her face... a grin? "Well? My name's Dolly if you must know. What's yours?" Curiosity showed in her eyes.

Bandit looked at Dolly, surprised that she had finally spoken. He put his nose in the air and ignored her.

Again, Dolly did the last thing Bandit expected her to do, she laughed. "You've got spunk dog you know that?" She raised her head from the grass and looked at him with a smile.

Bandit finally huffed, "My name's Bandit, and I'm the boss around here." He glared at Dolly, clearly showing his dislike of her.

Dolly shrugged. "I'll share my ownership with you I guess." With that she turned her back and began to eat again.

Bandit stared at her and then walked around to her front end. "I beg your pardon, but what did you say?!"

Dolly looked him in the eyes as she answered. "I said I'd share my ownership with you."

"You do not own this land!" Bandit growled. "I was here first and it is mine!"

Dolly watched him placidly as he growled at her. "I know you were here first but the people got me to own and keep track of the goats. Don't you understand you dull dog?" She looked at him with obvious amusement. "They got me to help you out! Now you don't have to watch the goats as much so that you can keep track of the other stuff."

Bandit blinked, he hadn't thought of it that way. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all. He nodded. "Alright, I've decided to hand over the governing of the goats to you." He was somewhat relieved to know that he didn't have to deal those troublesome goats anymore.

Dolly nodded and went back to eating again while Bandit headed back to the barn.

"Alright," he announced as he entered the barn. "I have everything sorted out. The people have sent Dolly to keep track of and guard you goats." He nodded before leaving with a swish of his tail, down to the creek.

Daisy was infuriated. "Well I say, how dare that llama take over watching us. We don't need to be taken care of, we take care of ourselves."

Noel watched her mother as she snorted and protested and thought out loud about things they might be able to do to drive Dolly away.

Almond Joy just laid on the hay table not paying the least attention to Daisy and Snickers had fallen asleep completely. Almond Joy wasn't feeling to great to tell the truth, she was pregnant and she could feel that her time was coming soon. She half closed her eyes and munched her hay, oblivious to everything else.

Story for the Contest --

Posted in Other Stories

This is a story that I wrote for a contest, I had to write a story for the picture. I've moved it here from my other blog because it is supposed to be here, not over there. xD

"You can't catch me!" the meow of a young cat could be heard, breaking the stillness of the forest. A second later an orange kit crashed through some bushes. His chest, legs, and paws were all white, and a white streak started on his forehead before extending down to cover his nose and mouth. Panting, he glanced around the clearing quickly with his bright green eyes before zipping away again to jump into some brush.
The forest fell silent again, and then gave way to the crunch of leaves as another kit leaped out of the bushes. This one looked like the first one, except instead of the orange, there was a very rich black. The young she-cat looked around cautiously. "Gingerkit!" she squealed. This was Coalkit, younger sister to Gingerkit. Her brother had coaxed her away from the nursery, and though she had thought it would be fun at first, she soon became bewildered and confused in the big forest. Gingerkit was much more confident here, but Coalkit felt horribly deserted without her mother.
"Come on!" the always happy mew of Gingerkit met Coalkit's ears and again she started off, green eyes wide as she scanned the sky, remembering the stories of hawks and owls that her mother had told her. Finally she scampered quickly to the other side of the clearing and into the more comfortably sheltered forest. "Gingerkit!" she mewled again piteously. Nothing. "Gingerkit!!" she howled.
Suddenly she felt something land on her back, and she turned to rake her claws over and jump on whatever it was, for though she didn't like to be alone she was a good fighter.
"Ow! Stop!" Gingerkit's voice squeaked.
Coalkit jumped and quickly got off of her brother, for so it was. An indignant Gingerkit sat up to wipe a paw over his face. "What was that for? I was just playing! You're as jumpy as a mouse in the warriors den!" Gingerkit shook his head.
"I'm sorry Gingerkit! Are you alright?" Coalkit ran up to Gingerkit and started licking his face where she had clawed him.
Gingerkit grinned when he heard his sister's worried voice but when she came over and started grooming him, well, that was a different matter! "Ew! Stop! I'm fine. You didn't even scratch me, just pulled some of the fur out. Hey! Look at that tree! I bet I can climb higher than you!" Gingerkit was on his paws in a flash and quickly climbing a tall tree.
"Ooh! Gingerkit! Please, I don't think we should climb it! It's so big!"
Gingerkit stopped long enough to glance over his shoulder and down at Coalkit. "Aw come on! What, are you to much of a coward?"
"No!" Coalkit put her ears back and started up the tree. She hated to be outdone by her brother, and she wasn't about to let Gingerkit outdo her now. The two kits climbed higher and higher and soon Coalkit was getting pretty nervous. She started climbing slower and when she glanced down at the ground she froze. She was very high now.
"Gingerkit! I wanna go home!" she wailed.
Gingerkit started to growl at her, but then he caught sight of the ground, so far below him. His muscles clenched and he found that he couldn't move.
"Gingerkit!" Coalkit was terrified, she could smell her brother's fear scent and that made her even more frightened.
"Calm down." Gingerkit whispered, trying hard to be brave. "Think of the bright side, no foxes or badgers could get us now."
Coalkit only whimpered in reply.
"Now, we just need to get down." Gingerkit tried to let go of the tree with a paw but failed utterly, he was afraid that he might fall if he let go.
"Look!" Coalkit mewed, flicking her tail at the ground.
"Mom!" Gingerkit yowled. "Mom!"
The cat that they were calling was an orange tabby named Sunpelt, large and strong, and at the sound of her kits' voices she looked up. "Gingerkit! Coalkit! What are you two doing up there?!" The worried mother began climbing the tree, her long legs covering the distance quicker than the kits' little legs had been able to. Once level with her kits she licked them furiously before grabbing hold of Coalkit's scruff. "I'll be back for you," she meowed through Coalkit. Slowly she made her way down to deposit Coalkit on the ground. Then she went back up and retrieved Gingerkit while Coalkit crouched shivering on the ground. "I'm never listening to Gingerkit again," she grumbled to herself. When Sunpelt had gotten to the ground again with Gingerkit she gave them both a thorough washing before nosing them to their paws and leading them back to camp. Both of the kits were quite sure that they weren't going to leave the camp again until they were apprentices and knew the ways of the forest.

Spirit

Prancing in a golden field,
He rears and kicks his velvet heels,
To no creature does he yield,
And no envy does he feel,
Knowing he is free.

Free to run and free to neigh,
Free to wander where he may,
No one could ever make him stay,
He would surely get away,
Running every day.

And when winter chill sets in,
And flakes of snow rest on his skin,
He settles down with back to wind,
For many storms has he been in,
But he was still free.

When summer's warmth does come at last,
And cold winds do cease to blast,
He paws and rolls in dewy grass,
How glad he is the cold is past,
The wild horse of Madras.

Writing Club

This blog is dedicated to writing. I'm best at writing stories and songs but I have done poems before. I'm going to start an informal writing club, mostly just a bunch of people that like to write posting the things they have written or are working on, and then we can comment on each others things! I'll probably have separate clubs for story writing and song writing. If you'd like to join either please leave a comment! I will welcome any suggestions for these clubs, seeing as I've never really put something like this together. I hope to have some contests now and then just for the fun of it too! So, comment away, let me know what you think of the idea!
