Mumps Outbreak Update!

Posted in Health

Over 1000 people have been diagnosed as having mumps.  Keep a watch on this. And it is spreading. Of most concern would be people aged 35-45 just because the vaccine came out in 1967, so many people in that age range didn't get vaccinated and also managed not to get it.

It is more an annoying disease than anything else, but can have some unpleasant possible side effects such as:  hearing loss, meningitis and fertility-diminishing swollen testicles. The common side effects are: fever, headache and swollen salivary glands under the jaw.

I have been watching this. I am 41 and did receive the vaccination but my 68 y.o. mom and dad have not had it or the mumps. The vaccine was around when i was young but it was not mandatory that you take it. My cousins didn't take it but then came down with the mumps. Great blog you have, i do believe i will have to put you in my favorites list. thanks for sharing. God bless you richly and sweetly~~deb

The thing that I think is important to remember is that people's bodies could have developed natural immunities to the mumps without the vaccine. I can't imagine what a bunch of adults getting the mumps vaccine would bring down the road. I know that it seems like things just keep getting worse with the flu vaccine, but the advertising/media just keeps saying "Imagine how much worse it would be if we didn't do the vaccine". I'm an unvaccinated skeptic though. :o)
