Pet Peeves Contest Winners!

Posted in Contest

Okay, here it is, Monday and as I promised, there are some winners! First, I want to say, I enjoyed all of the posts and sat here shaking my head in agreement as I read your pet peeves. And speaking of pet peeves, everyone really liked Sagerats idea of having a pet named Peeves!  Very clever!

Okay, so I threw the names into a hat and pulled out three winners:  TiredMom, Sagerats, and JenneinAZ. Then I added LadyPoet33 to the list of winners because she added pet loves and I thought that was awesome! Thanks to all of you for commenting. Sorry, Amber, that I didn't draw out your name, better luck with that next time!

Pet Peeves:  Face it, we all have them!  There are things that drive us absolutely up the wall. For my mom, she hates people who chew gum with their mouth open. The smacking/popping sound drives her bonkers!

My husband hates when he emails people and they don't email him back.  I hate when people pull out in front of me when there is no one for miles behind me and force me to slow down to keep from hitting them. There are more, but just thought I would throw a couple out there.

So for this contest, share your pet peeve. Maybe you will make others aware of something annoying they are doing that could be easily changed and by doing so, we could make the world a better place. On Monday, I would throw your names into a hat and pick out a winner or two!

Where do I begin?

1. Misuse of the English language ex) educated people who say "supposably"
2. Chain letters threatening some grave result for not passing along
3. People who run late ALL the time
4. No call, no shows
5. Rude customer service clerks

I'll stop there or I'll get myself all worked up! : )

Come on over and take my summer homeschooling poll!

Blessings on your summer days,
Maureen

I can't stand it when a company advertises that you can work for them but don't tell you upfront what they are about. Sometimes you have to go through several webpages, videos and hoopla only to find out it's all about vitamins and I'm not about to sell vitamins! (I'm not against vitamins, I just don't enjoy selling them.)
This includes those signs and newspaper advertisements that say you can earn money but dont' tell you doing what. You have to call first then listen to ten minutes of their spiel to learn you are going to be making hair clips. If they can't tell me upfront what it is they want me to sell then it's a scam.

When you ask a question and the answer is some beat around the bush nonsense that in the end answers nothing but was cleverly designed to make them look intelligent. I enjoy the look on their face when I ask the question again as in, "That was interesting, now answer the question."

People who think they are teaching you a lesson. i.e. You are driving happily along at the speed limit. Guy behind you tailgating. Next thing you know he is passing you, giving you a dirty look and gestures, cuts in front of you and then drives like a granny. Yeah, that taught me. We're even now, you idiot. (for the record, while this drives me nuts, I do nothing in return. Give them a few seconds of teaching their lesson and their impatience will soon catch up with them and they drive off in a huff. I can go back to happy driving.)

Someday I am going to get a cat and name it Peeve. Then when people come over I can say, "This is my pet, Peeve."

My biggest pet peeve has got to be other people saying "But it's a dry heat." Arizona heat is hot and dry, but mostly *hot*.

I'm typically a water-off-a-duck's back kind of person, but here goes . . .

1. Coffee slurping. Not really too much, but dh always does it every morning just to get a reaction.

2. Dangerous drivers who drive their SUVs (or tractor trailers) like they were sports cars.

3. Liars. Just tell me the truth, rather than beat around the bush.

4. People who interrupt my train of thought while writing when there is no blood in sight. It's just plain too hard to get this 39 year-old mind back on track again. This just happened. So, that's that.

This is a real pet - I've had it for years. Ending a sentence in AT. urks me to smithers. Where are you AT. Even professional speakers do this regularly.

Humm... I can't believe I only have one. Surely I'm a red blooded American with lots of complaints and grips. Well, I guess I"m just lazy. At is It.

Be blessed,

Jun. 16, 2006 - My Pet Peeves

1. My pet peeve is people who have too many pet peeves. As a mother of kids with autism, I have learned not to sweat the small stuff. Some things just don't matter in the whole scheme of life. When I see people grumbling about trivial matters I find myself muttering, "what that person needs is a couple of kids with autism." Why? Because suddenly nothing else really matters very much. Each day is so full of things that really matter that all the trivial stuff just fades away.

2. My other pet peeves are people who are judgemental about other people. We don't know what it's like to be anybody but ourselves. We have no right to cast judgement on anyone. I don't even have a right to pass judgement on people who have too many pet peeves! Hah!

3. Okay, this really bugs me. My dh has to have the blankets absolutely PERFECT before he'll get into bed. To me, I'm so exhausted, that it doesn't matter what condition the blankets are in. Just let me sleep! But he goes to flipping and flapping them and making them just so. <sigh>

4. For every rule there is a loop hole, right? Well, my loop hole in not judging people about certain things is that I absolutely cannot understand or abide by child abuse. I cannot stand to see a child suffer. And I cannot imagine why anyone would want to hurt a child, neglect a child, or cause them any kind of pain whatsoever. So causing others harm, espeically children, is my main pet peeve.

I love the comment about the cat named "peeve" -- that's just perfect somehow! lol

My pet peeves...

- people who set appointments and don't show up for them and don't call
- people who are two inches away from you and SHOUT at you in normal conversation
- empty juice and milk containers in the fridge pretending to be full...

There are others, but this will do for now lol

Great post,
Have a wonderful week!!

Jun. 19, 2006 - My pet peeves...?

Well...I have too many. LOL That is probably because I drive other people crazy and have to justify myself. ;)

-people who ask "what?" after you have been talking to them in a normal tone of voice for 10 minutes.

-liars, I can't take it. Suck it up, and tell the truth! Yes, EVEN IF YOU WILL GET IN TROUBLE, especially then. You need the help.

-hypocrites. Can't take em! Somebody who thinks they are better than someone else because of skin color, knowledge, birth, religion etc... We are all God's children, and we are all loved.

-people who call you up, to tell you how bad your kids are...as if I didn't already know. LOL I had one lady in my church call me on the phone and told me I wasn't a "Christian" because I homeschooled my children. I responded with my usual wrecking ball subtlety and asked her how she would feel if I took time out of my day to call her and tell her that she wasn't a "Christian" because she put her children in a Godless public school. This was one of those "wrecking ball subtlety" times and she never forgave me.

-people who refuse to recognize that there is Godlessness and evil in our public school system. They will argue and fight you, when you tell them you homeschool your kids, because of those things in the schools, that you don't want your kids exposed to daily. They will outright deny any such thing exists here, that stuff only happens in "other places". I shake my head when leaving a conversation with these people. I cannot understand.

Those were my pet peeves.

These are my pet LOVES:

-I love it when someone waves me into traffic in front of them. That makes my day!

-I love it when someone lets me in front of them at the grocery store, because they have a cart full of stuff, and I have 2 items. These people make me very happy.

-I love those people who tell me that they thought I was my daughters sister, until someone told them I was her mother. LOL (Just a bit of vanity here)

-I love it when someone comes to visit, and doesn't care what your house looks like. They came to see you, not your house. I love these people.

- I love it when a stranger walks up to me, and says how much they appreciate what I am doing for my children, and how they admire homeschoolers. (These are the people I usually hug!)

-I love it when hubby does the dishes for me on Sunday night, so I can take some time to rest, and sketch, paint, play my recorder, or write poetry. He is so sweet.

-I love it when my full grown teenager (6' 2") walks up to me in front of his friends, and gives me a hug. I LOVE that. PRRRRRR!

-I love it when I find $20 in an old purse or coat pocket, that I forgot about.

-I love it, when I can feel and see my blessings from the Lord, and express them to others so they can share in my joy...I LOVE that!

Thanks for this. I have so much to be thankful for!

I didn't see your email address on here. I don't want to post my address for all to see. Hubby wouldn't like that, he worries.

So, if you want to contact me at:
LadyPoet33@msn.com

I'll give you the information you requested.

I am so doing the happy dance that I actually won something.!!!!
