I love the movie Rikki Tikki Tavi. It was a favorite of mine as a child and back then you could only see it whenever the networks decided to show it on television. Now I own it on video and it can watch it anytime I want ... so there!  I don't know why this little mongoose story captured my imagination when I was a child. Maybe it was the sparkle in his eye. Maybe it was the way he outsmarted Nag and Nagina...or maybe it was the way he saved his family from harm. However, I know the food chain usually means there are things above you and things below you.  And the same is true for the mongoose. Apparently, they are on the menu for some carnivorous storks.

Here is a video of Marabou storks in Africa trying to catch some baby food for dinner. The third time is the charm for the storks, but the mongooses put up a good fight!
