  • Pumpkin Pie Fiasco

Well, at least I tried. I can try again at Christmas!! We were at Sam's Club and Steve saw a huge pumpkin pie for a good price. I told him "Why don't I actually try to MAKE one this year!"

Well, how hard can it be? You get the can of mushed up pumpkin, and follow the recipe on the can. I bought frozen crusts, all I had to do was mix up the pumpkin with the other ingredients. Nobody can goof THAT up right?

WRONG!! First I discovered that although I THOUGHT I had the right spices I was missing ginger. But, I did have pumpkin pie spice. After I had already dumped the first tbsp of spice into the pumpkin mixture I realized I didn't have enough left for the 2nd tbsp. So, since I had cinnamon and cloves, I used a little of those to make up for it.

When I tasted the pie I was concerned that the spices wouldn't taste quite right. Instead, we realized the pie was NOT sweet at all. Yes, I failed to put in the sugar!! The Cool Whip, helps, but it doesn't completely sweeten it as much as it needs to be to taste right. At Christmastime I'll make sure I have Ginger and I'll remember to add the sugar. So, does anybody want to be invited to MY house for dinner?

I forgot to put flour in my first cake and I couldn't figure out why it boiled in the oven! I like making dump cakes because they are easy to make and are Tammy-proof:

My guess is that she didn't make it in her new Easy Bake oven, lol. Well, if she ever gets brave enough to spend a few days with Aunt Wendy, she'll have to teach me how to bake.

Well, I've created some real doozies in the kitchen, too! Now I just do the easy stuff (like baking the turkey) and let the girls make the complicated things! :0)
