A word to the wise is sufficient, and a word to the sufficient is wiseMay. 10, 2008

On 5/5/2008, a homeschool mother reported the following. "Friday afternoon the search warrant team arrived at our next door neighbor's house and remained there most of the day. According to the newspaper article the next day, he and his wife were arrested for felony drug trafficking and cultivating. That is not the scary part for me. He came over later that evening and returned a box he and my 11 y/o son had been working on making together and spoke to my husband. After some brief conversation, my husband wanted some answers about what was going on and 'Mr. John' told him he wasn't going to like it and that they found some "pictures on his computer". So, other charges are pending after further investigation of the computer equipment and such that was also confiscated. We have six kiddos at home, ages 13 to 1. The only child to go there alone was our son, Logan, and he was directed to stay in the garage area only, or outside (they also smoke cigarettes excessively but not outside with the kids around). Otherwise, they would sometimes all go over and help him bring in his wood for the winter, or other odd jobs, but very seldom. I'm sure we will be brought into the investigation and I have already contacted HSLDA via email, but I would truly appreciate your prayers. The kids are heartbroken (they don't know the details, only that they cannot see Mr. John anymore). This man has been such a blessing to our family. My husband works out of state all week and Mr. John takes care of our garbage weekly, kept our driveway clear all winter, watches our cats and house when we travel, and recently has been working on projects with our son making a paintball gun using pvc pipe and shooting at his old truck, and helping Logan with other various wood projects. There was even talk of the next project being a marshmallow shooter so Mr. John could shoot marshmallows at his 17 cats! I'm not sure whether to be mad at him, or feel sorry for him. So, I would ask for your prayers not only for our family, but for Mr. John and his wife, Diane. The marijuana plants were for medicinal purposes for Diane. We are thankful our children were not involved, but I would also take this opportunity to remind you to be very wary of who you let your children spend time with. People aren't always what they seem................Thank you."
