Fear grows among pro-life activistsOct. 22, 2009
I know that not all homeschoolers are “pro-life” (i.e., anti-abortion) but many of us are, so this item reported by Charlie Butts of OneNewsNow on 9/26/2009 should be interesting.  Is a double standard being applied to those in the public debate on abortion?  In the aftermath of the shooting death of pro-life demonstrator Jim Pouillon in Michigan, some members of the movement are hesitant to picket. Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League believes that should stop no one from expressing a pro-life view.  "It's extremely rare for violence to enter into the abortion battle on either side, and there's no reason to be afraid to go out there on the street," he contends.  But Scheidler does wonder if there is a double standard in Washington.  "After George Tiller was shot by a lone goofball up there in Kansas, Barack Obama immediately deplored the event and sent out federal marshals. But it took him three days to finally get around to responding to the killing in Michigan of the pro-life activist," he notes. And that response, he adds, did not involve sending marshals to protect pro-life organizations.  Scheidler, while conducting a demonstration recently in Naples, Florida, said it was ironic that a federal agent had been dispatched to the abortion center to watch their peaceful pickets.

Doesn't surprise me about Obama. Everything he does has a double standard.

We could go on and on about how double minded he is. He will NEVER stand up for pro-lifers. He loves abortion and all things liberal.

What we do from now on will have to be with the knowledge that the gov't will NOT be on our side.

But - I truly appreciate your courage to put this post up. Everytime I put up something like this - I get bashed by "anonymous".

This whole pro-life/pro-choice debate always leaves me sad. Seriously, the whole thing is depressing, even without considering the poor unborn babies... I'm prolife, but the behavior of both sides sickens me. When Tiller was shot I was appalled by the "Christian" reaction-- people cheering, saying he deserved it, etc. Believe me, I wish I could say the prolife movement was above the kind of behavior Barack Obama suspects them of... its sad the level both sides will sink too. This isn't just a prolife/prochoice problem either. Our nation is very divided right now and we should all be praying for healing, in my opinion.

You said, "I'm prolife, but the behavior of both sides sickens me. When Tiller was shot I was appalled by the "Christian" reaction-- people cheering, saying he deserved it, etc." Yes, I heard those reports too, and there will always be a few, but I have to wonder about the accuracy of the reports. This is certainly NOT a "Christian response" and it is certainly NOT the response of the vast majority of the pro-life movement. In fact I read and heard pro-life leader after pro-life leader condemn Tiller's killing. I really wonder if it is not the left-wing media just scouring the land to find the few kooks who would applaud such an action and magnifying them as if this were the general "Christian" and "pro-life" response. I agree that "Our nation is very divided right now and we should all be praying for healing," but the only way for this to happen is for the pro-abortion movement to stop supporting the wholesale killing of unborn babies, and I don't think that this is going to happen any time soon.
