Adam had none.  Eve had two.  And, everyone today has three. What is it?

.

.

.

.

.

.

The letter "e" (Adam, Eve, everyone).

One morning a man is leaving on business trip and finds he left some paperwork at his office. He runs into his office to get it and the night watchman stops him and says, "Sir, don't get on the plane. I had a dream last night that the plane would crash and everyone would die!" The man takes his word and cancels his trip. Sure enough the plane crashes and everyone dies. The next morning the man gives the watchman a $1,000 reward for saving his life and then fires him. Why did he fire the watchman that saved his life?

.

.

.

.

.

He was fired for sleeping on the job! (Night) watchman.

I Shouldn't Take Such Chances

I really don't know what happened to me in November. I entered the Twilight Zone or something, I'm sure of it. My blog was doing so well, I was getting new readers, then I vanished from the face of HSB. Or so it seems. I took a chance that I might lose readers, and I really shouldn't do that!

Life has a way of eclipsing our priorities, doesn't it? The urgent, stressful things clamor, scream, and whine for attention, while the stuff we really should be focusing on starts to wither.

To be blunt, I spent November stressing about money. With four kids, a dwindling income (or so it felt), bills, braces for one child and another needing them...and Thanksgiving, an anniversary, and Christmas looming on the horizon, I became very stressed (still feeling it, actually). But all the while, the Lord was there, saying, "Focus on Me. Put Me first. Everything else will fall into place."

I'm still waiting for everything to fall into place, because, ashamedly, I haven't been putting Him first. The noise of the stress and anxiety I was facing was drowning out His quiet reminder. It takes real discipline, apparently, to take your eyes off the bills that are due and look instead to the One Who "owns the cattle on a thousand hills."

The holidays can be very difficult for many people. For quite a few, stressing about finances completely wipes out any joy we may otherwise feel. For others, missing a loved one who's passed on makes this season a bleak one. I'll be addressing this in the next issue of the Homeschooling Anyway newsletter, and giving some ideas on how to put the joy back into your Christmas. (You can sign up by clicking the link at the top of this page.)

But for now, I'd like to leave you with some verses that the Lord keeps bringing to mind. I need to print them out and post them above my desk. (Out of sight, out of mind!) I hope they'll encourage you, too, to put Christ first, not just at Christmas, but always, and in everything.

Nightmare Island

The sky is overcast. Ahead, there is an entrance to what eerily resembles a maze The only sign of botanical life is the dank, slimy moss growing on the gray rocks. The air is quiet and heavy, occasionally broken by the whisper of soft shuffling footsteps in the distance. In the distance you can hear the waves crashing against the rocks upon the boat in which you were traveling crashed. The air is damp and chilly, and you can almost taste the decay. There are remains of animals and humans alike in corners of the paths. A light mist obscures the way ahead, allowing you to see only ten feet in front of you. As you advance deeper into the endless maze, the mist seems to grab at you, pulling you down. Darkness falls and soon all light is extinguished. You have to feel your way along the wall, which is slick and scarred with deep cuts. You walk for hours. Your feet feel heavy and your throat is dry. You press forward, on and on, drawn by some strange curiosity. The ground, shrouded by the mist, is covered with objects that seem to pop and snap as your feet move forward. Suddenly, the wall you are following ends and you step into a huge cavern; the path you were following has gradually sloped downward. Light is now slowly creeping back into the sky and you can barely make out the other edge of the room. As you advance, you see the far wall is dotted with openings, pathways forking out. Suddenly you realize that this looks familiar. You're back where you started. You quickly spin around... and see yourself staring back; your frightened face stained with dirt and sweat. You panic as your mind fails to process what's happening. You fall forward into yourself, only to stumble as you arrive at the entrance of the maze again.

News

Plaxico Burress

Considering NY Giants Plaxico Burress shot himself Thursday night in the leg, I expect he will be fined a lot of money, and face some sort of punishment for his actions. This is not acceptable, and he should be severely punished. He is to be an influence, because kids look up to him.

Stock Market

On Black Friday the stock market was fortunately up 102.43! Do you think we are through with the stock market being down so much, so many consecutive days?? I hope so. Sure it will be a long while before the stock market reaches in its thousands, but hey, its better to have the stock market up, then to be down.

Wal-Mart

Recession? What recession? You cant tell me we are in a recession or we are even headed toward a recession after my Wal-Mart made over a million dollars with in one hour on Black Friday.

Sports

Patriots vs. Steelers

The New England Patriots (7-4) will be playing the Pittsburg Steelers   (8-3) at 4:15 today. I expect this game to be a good one as Pittsburgh’s star QB Ben Roethlisberger, goes up against New England’s now starting QB Matt Cassel. The Pats will be at home in this one. I think the defense is going to really dominate in this one, and my prediction for this one is going to favor the Patriots over the Steelers, 20-17. I do not expect Matt Cassel to get 400 yards passing for the 3rd consecutive week.

Celtics

The Celtics are 16-2 so far this year. Many say they are headed right back to the NBA championship, and I’m one of them. The Big Three is again doing wonders so far in this season. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them get more then 65 wins this season.

RedSox24’s Blog of the week pick

I have decided to pick this blog for my pick of blog of the week: www.homeschooolblogger.com/politics

Why? Because he likes politics, and this blog is all about politics. Yeah the maker of that blog is a democrat, but that’s what makes it so good! He’s not afraid to have an argument about abortion, the bail out plan, the economy, or even Barack Obama!! So please, check out this blog!!
