12 blogs of Christmas

I'm amazed at the way the Lord has decided to celebrate His birthday this year.  I have throughly enjoyed the online Christmas party (see below) and now there's the 12 blogs of Christmas:  https://www.homeschoolestore.com/catalog/hses_12_blogs_of_christmas.php

I get inspiration to add to my blog and the possibility of even more prizes.

My first intrest that's ready is this years Christmas card.  With 4.5 years between boy 2 and 3 it did't seem like long...but the Christmas photo from 2000 and 2007 look so similar.

I've got to finish making cookies and exploring blogs :)

I'm back for my 2nd entry.  You really need to take time to check out the variety of ways to enter.

  1. How many children do you have / homeschool?  I have 4, 2 are preschool aged
  2. How long have you been homeschooling? 6 years (where has the time gone?)
  3. Have they always been homeschooled, or did they ever go to public/private school? My oldest went to preschool and then has homeschooled.  My 2nd child was in preschool and kindergarten.  The next two won't ever go to school.  That did NOT work for our family.
  4. Do you plan on homeschooling until graduation?   We are exploring some online schools, also considering a local Catholic high school.  We will probably keep home schooling but want to know our choices.
  5. Do you belong to a co-op? Not yet.  We are planning on doing a mini co-op for Spring to see how we like it.
  6. Do you school all year long, or use some other schedule?  We school all year but with a reduced load during summer.
  7. Do you use textbooks only, or do you like to supplement with other materials?  We use textbooks for our basics but a variety of options for the other areas.
  8. Are field trips included in your school plans, or are they just family time?  I count every thing I can as school time.  We don't need to report but I'd rather have it counted and go over the days required then fall short because we didn't count something that could have.
  9. Do you and your kids do crafty stuff together for school time?  We aren't very crafty but I try to do at least 1 art project a month.
  10. Would you consider everyday household life stuff ‘home ec’?  I count things they are learning new as home ec.  For the daily chores that they have mastered I don't.  When they were learning to load the dishwasher it was a class that I had to teach, maybe when they teach the younger ones it should count for them as teaching home ec?
  11. Do you have any advice for new homeschoolers?  Relax!  I find that I keep stressing out over things that don't matter after the month is done.  Make a list of what really matters to you and remember it's not all academic.
  12. Do you have advice for homeschoolers with little ones under foot?  Take time with the older ones one on one.  As your youngers get older they will be thrilled to have time alone with a sibling playing.  Time that my oldest spends playing legos with the 3 year old helps me to do math with the 7 year old.
