Provoking...
Posted in Randomness
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

I've never seen this movie, though it's been recommended many times my many different people. This is a fabulous quote, and I think my kids and I will memorize it.
Thanks for sharing!

Oh, I love that quote. It is fantastic. You know, since I've been writing, it's dawned on my that since we are created in God's image, we are, in a sense, "creators" too. We create our characters, set up their lives, give them problems to solve so they can grow, yet WE know the solution and the ending to the story. Isn't that what God is doing with us and our world?

It is also used in part in the movie Coach Carter (Samuel Jackson). I have tried to Google it to no avail. Do you by chance know who said the words originally?
Hope all is well,

P.S.
Once I clicked on the "Post Comment", I saw that another commenter had copied the whole citation into her comment, so I copied it for later review. Thanks
