Gabriel and Mary

Mary amazes me.  A Jewish young woman that took the responsibility of giving birth to our Christ and Saviour.  All she said was, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word."  I know I would be asking lots of questions and wondering why I was the chosen one.

Luke 1: 26-38 KJV
26 And in the sixth moth the angel Garbriel was sent from the God unto a city of Glilee, named Nazareth,
27To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
28And the angel came in unto her, and said "Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women."
29And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
30And the angel said unto her, "Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
31'And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
32'He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
33'And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end."
34Then said Mary unto the angel, "How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?"
35And the angel answered and said unto her, "The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
36'And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
37'For with God nothing shall be impossible."
38And Mary said, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word."  And the angel departed from her.
Again for these verses I found other verses related to them.  For Luke 1:27, I found Matthew 1:18
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before the came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
For Luke 1:31, I found Isaiah 7:14
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
For Luke 1:33, I found Mathew 14:33
Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
For Luke 1:37, I found Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."

Gentle Mary Laid Her Child

Gentle Mary laid her Child lowly in a manger
There He lay, the undefiled, to the world a Stranger:
Such a Babe in such a place, can He be the Savior?
Ask the saved of all the race who have found His favor.

Angels sang about His birth; wise men sought and found Him;
Heaven’s star shone brightly forth, glory all around Him:
Shepherds saw the wondrous sight, heard the angels singing;
All the plains were lit that night, all the hills were ringing.

Gentle Mary laid her Child lowly in a manger;
He is still the undefiled, but no more a stranger:
Son of God, of humble birth, beautiful the story;
Praise His Name in all the earth, hail the King of glory!

As part of planning for the new year I begin take stock of what is in the pantry, plan several weekly menus and try to get back on track in the kitchen. Using what I already have in my pantry saves money and time. Planning new to our family recipes gets rid of dinner time hum drum. I use the down time of Christmas break to plan and organize. I found several sites that helped me to get started.

http://leftoverchef.com/  Great for using up the leftovers that we all have lurking in the fridg.

Calculators to help plan a recipe for what you already have.

Weekly Wrap Up

From the Heart: This week has been a challenge in the parenting department. After much reflection and time in the word I came away with the fact that the root of the problem is a lack of self control on both sides. I tend to react when I should retreat and chat later. Dear children react and feel they need to get every last word out, even if the words are hurtful. All they really want is for me to listen.  I have returned to praying the scriptures for and with them, help them sort their negative behavior ( and mine). Refocusing my thoughts on Christ and centering my parenting around the example set in scripture.

 Example: Cause ( name of child or person) to make every effort to add to her faith goodness and to goodness, knowledge, and to knowledge, severance, godliness, and to godliness, brotherly kindness: and to brotherly kindness, love. Let (name) possess these qualities in increasing measure, so that she will be effective and productive in her knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ ( 2 Peter 1:5 – 8)

In the School Room: It was the week before Christmas.. need I say more? Focusing on school was difficult for both the students and the teachers ( dad too). We did manage to do a meager amount. Enough to count the days. So happy to have 2 weeks off! I plan to get all the lessons on paper, copies made for biology, and tweek the schedule. I am changing some things in hopes to make our week run smoother. Not sure what yet but know I need to do something. Seeking the Lord on this!

On the Mission Field: The homeless outreach this week went really well. We needed to use two vehicles because we had so many donations to give out ( blankets, clothes, ect)  Sad to see so many out there in the cold. Many new young folks on the street as well.

In the Literary Scene: Oh time to read.....wishful thinking this past week.

In the Kitchen:  Wish I could say there were fabulous creations going on! That I was knee deep in making Christmas goodies….sigh. Not happening yet! Just keeping my head above water and getting meals on the table.

On the Creative Side: Planning ahead for next year. I love doing this even if I only do a few of the things on my list. Love looking at what others have done this christmas. It inspires me.

Thrifty Finds: Went to the monthly library sale and scored many books for DD1 on architecture.  A friend is coming over to help clean and repair the piano. ( because he loves to!) We will still need to get it tuned but this will save us a bundle.

 No photos this week. We nearly lost all our photos and important files on the computer a few weeks ago. Thankfully hubby was able to recover most of it. He needs to go in name the files and put a place for me to upload.

Unforgiveness

Hey Everyone,

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a really long time,but I haven't been on the computer much and I've had a difficult month.

Lately, I've been struggling with forgivness.  I've had two people deepy hurt me this month, and it's been really hard to forgive them.

What does God think about forgivness?  Does he think it's ok to say, "What they did was unforgiveable...I'm sure God will understand"

No, in fact he says to forgive our neighbore not only 7 time, but 77 times 7 times.  He forgave us of the biggest sin imaginable...I think we can do enough to forgive the people who hurt us.  Not only does he say this,but he also says that he will forgive us with the same measure forgiveness we use on our enemies.  Wow.  That's a pretty harsh concequence.

So have I completely put aside what these two people did to me?  No.  Not exactly.  In fact, it makes me tear up when I talk about it.  However, I walk around saying, "I forgive these people and what they did to me."  That's really not easy for me.  Honestly, when they hurt me I just wanted to curl up and cry for eternity.

Last Sunday, one of our pasters talked about forgiveness.  Her story was about when they were trying to adopt a little girl from Mexico.  They have three boys, and she really wanted a little girl.  They got a lawyer named Antonio(who lives in Mexico) to help them out.  Everything was going well, and they went down to Mexico because their litle girl had been born.  Unfortunatly, this lawyer had been lying to them and pulling money from them when there was no little girl being born.  This was heartbreaking to this family, and it was extremely hard to forgive this man.  However, it took awhile for my pastor to forgive what happened.  Once she did, it was like God releashed a peace on her.

Anyways, I just wanted to let ya'll know how important it is to me to forgive people.  Please pray for me that I will officially forgive and forget these people who I still feel I shouldn't forgive.

Thanks,

~Madison
