I decided to oblige my good friend Melissa by posting the books and materials I am using this school year.
(Please forgive what may not make sense as this is the second time I have written this post - The first I inadvertantly deleted before posting and I still seem to be having problems!)
Bible: We read directly from the New King James version of the Bible and from Egermeier's Bible Story Book
Memorization: Verses and Chapters from the Bible, Hymns and Poems by Isaac Watts
Phonics: Total Reading Levels I, II and III
Reading: McGuffey's Readers
Copywork: Bible Memory Verses, Excerpts from hymns and poems
Read Alouds: Charlotte’s Web, Henry Huggins, The Year of Miss Agnes, Homer Price, Greek Myths For Young Children, Mr. Popper’s Penguins, Follow My Leader, Mountain Born, Understood Betsy, Favorite Poems of Childhood, Detectives in Togas, Little Pear (Sonlight)
History / Geography: The Usborne Time Traveler, Tut’s Mummy Lost and Found, George Muller, Missionary Stories With the Millers, Archeologists Dig For Clues, The Great Wall of China, From Abeku to Zapotec, Peoples of the World (Sonlight), Various Map work
Math: Saxon (Level 1)
Science: Various Unit Studies and Experiments
Art Appreciation: Come Look With Me
