Sep. 25, 2006 - My Two-Year-Old
My Joshua is just beginning to articulate his thoughts and feelings, and I must say he does a great job, most of the time. He is only two, however, and he does get awfully frustrated with himself. My dad has always said that this age is one of the cutest and most fun, but I would have to add that it has got to be the most exasperating time of life for the two-year-old… He's just not quite sure of how to express himself sometimes. It must get to be a bummer to have to repeat yourself five times before Mommy understands what you are saying! I love to watch Joshua as he explores the world around him. Each day he learns so many new and exciting things – that each flower on our patio is a different color (even though they are all different shades of orange); that ice is cold and can stick to your tongue; that Mommy’s shirt is green, just like the leaves on the tree – and the way he cocks his head to one side, when he finally gets it, is so adorable! Each night he blows me kisses as he says good night, even when he’s in tears because he doesn’t want to go to bed yet. He refuses to say “amen” until the person praying says “in Jesus’ name.” After I ask him to do something he will say, “yes, okay Mom” with a big grin (most of the time, believe it or not!). He comes up to me a great number of times throughout the day just to say “I love you Mommy!” And he says, “I don’t know” at the beginning of nearly every sentence! My Joshua is only two, but I will love him more when he is ninety-two!!
