Jan. 6, 2007 - Ethan's First Missing Tooth!
The other day Ethan came to me with worry and concern on his face and his finger in his mouth. I asked him what was wrong and he replied, with tears in his eyes, "My tooth is loose and it's bleeding." I guess he forgot that this is a normal occurrence... We hadn't talked about it for some time and he certainly didn't think it was normal now! I told him to play with it for awhile and it was sure to fall out. After just a few days he would have a tooth to put under his pillow. I told him that if he put his tooth under his pillow the "Tooth Angel" (that's what my parents called this creature we all knew was Dad!) and he would exchange his tooth for treasure. Leave it to Zach to debunk my story by saying, "There's no such thing as the Tooth Angel... It's YOU, Mom!" Ahh, my no-nonsense Zach!!
Well, Ethan lost his first tooth last night! Actually, he didn't so much LOSE it as it was YANKED out of his mouth!! He wanted so badly to try the string and door-knob trick... So, Daddy tied one end of a piece of ribbon to Ethan's tooth (it was the only thing we could get to stay on his tooth without slipping off) and the other end he tied to the door knob. It only took one slam of the door and out came his tooth. Ethan wasn't sure what to do, it happened so fast, but he was thrilled when he realized his tooth was out!
As I layed my head on my pillow, I remembered about the Tooth Angel and the exchange that had to be made... I would have felt so bad had I forgotten. I dragged myself out of bed and downstairs to get Ethan's treasure, snuck into his room, slipped my hand under his pillow, left the money and found his itty bitty baby tooth. Oh boy! My baby's growing up so fast!
Zach is SOOO jealous of the fact that he still doesn't have any teeth that'll budge. You would think that, since Ethan and Zach are identical in just about every way, they would have the same teeth missing at the same time... Not so! In time, but for now I am glad that I have ONLY ONE BIG BOY!!
