Mar. 23, 2007 - Sleep and other Pregnancy Related Things
According to the “experts” I should be sleeping better, now that I am halfway through my second trimester…. Ha! I don’t think I’ve had a good night sleep in, well, maybe I shouldn’t go there! I wake up at all hours of the night to go pee, turn over (not so easy with my baby bump), or just because I’ve had a weird dream. If I don’t wake up because one of the kids has a bad dream or needs to go pee, that is!
Oh, but my dreams – They are so vivid that I will sometimes wake up only to realize I was just dreaming! Here’s what babycenter had to say about that, “That's partly because you may be interrupting a dream-filled cycle of REM sleep when you get up to pee, cope with a leg cramp, or shift to a more comfortable position. Waking up during REM sleep makes you more likely to remember your dreams. Pregnancy hormones may also play a role.” Hmmm, supposedly I’m just remembering them now! I don’t think so… I’m sure it has to do mostly with the hormones.
Which brings me to another thing…. I am pretty sure I’m having a girl. Call me crazy, since we have yet to have the *gender determining* ultrasound (if there could be such a thing!) amd even that's not a sure-fire way of finding out.
But, here’s why I think there's a little girl in here:
I am not sick at all, and haven’t been during the last 191/2 weeks. I was very sick while pregnant with all of my boys and felt great during my pregnancy with Julia.
I also had really weird dreams when I was pregnant with Julia, and not when I was carrying the boys…. Another reason why I think the dream thing is hormone related.
I did the ring test – You know, the one where you tie your ring to a string and suspend your ring above your belly button. If it’s a boy the ring on the string will move side to side, but if it’s a girl it will turn in circles. Guess what? My ring turned in circles!
And, I’m not at all superstitious, nor do I believe any of this astrology stuff, but just for fun I checked out the Chinese conception calendar, and apparently I am supposed to have a girl.
So, there ya have it… You can all laugh at me with me if I have another boy, kay?
Guess what? My baby now weighs about 8 1/2 ounces, and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the length of a small zucchini. Oh, and if my baby is a girl, she has an astonishing six million eggs in her ovaries. (They'll dwindle to fewer than two million by the time she's born.)
