Apr. 2, 2007 - Math with a two-year-old...
Yes, it can be done!
Josh, my two-year-old, wanted very badly to "do math" with us and he couldn't understand why he couldn't sit at the table and write out problems, too. So, I put together a simple chart for him and gave him jelly beans.

Here is what he did with it (with just a little help from me):

This simple exercise helped him with his colors, too. Josh could already count flawlessly to 10, but now he can recognize the numbers 1 - 4 and knows what each number signifies.
I am so proud of my little guy!! He is constantly making sure he knows by asking me repeatedly, "Is this a two?" or "Is that a four?"
He loves to do math with us and begs to participate in drills and quizzes!
Let me know if you try this with your two-year-old,
or if you have other suggestions... I'd love more ideas!
