Apr. 2, 2007 - Just One of Those Days

Do you ever have one of those days when nothing really seems to go right? When you had such great plans for the day, but you didn't get any thing done that you planned? When you feel like you have such a short fuse and the little ones just test you all day?

Well, I had one of those days and I'm exhausted!! And the twins... well, lets just say they haven't had a good day, either! I let them play outside until they decided that the backyard wasn't big enough and decided to venture out front, without my knowledge or consent. They then proceeded to invite a bunch of the neighborhood kids into my house without my approval, all of whom I promptly sent home, only to discipline my boys for running off and inviting their friends over without permission. They had bad attitudes and even worse judgement. They made messes everywhere and it was like pulling teeth to get them to clean up... Ugggh!

As I write this I am feeling a bit convicted... I must confess that I haven't had the best attitude today, either. I know it's because I didn't spend any time talking to the Lord nor did I spend any time in the Word. Could it be that my children are reflecting my attitude today? That they are seeing my ungodly behavior - my impatience, my lack of self-control, and my disobedience - as license to act so defiantly?

Thankfully tomorrow is another day, and although I will make mistakes, prayerfully I will not make the same ones!! But for tonight, I am off to spend some time with my Savior...

I have those days more often then Id like. :-) I pray you have been refreshed in your time with the Lord tonight, may you have a blessed day tomorrow full of the fruits of the spirit! I pray the same for myself! :-)

Ugh! Do I feel convicted or what after reading this? The same thing has been going on with me. Yesterday I got so darn frustrated with my little girl I had to apologize to her. I'm trying to make a practice of that! Anyway, you are right, staying in fellowship with God sure makes all the difference!

That's the hard part isn't it? Realizing that often when we see such a bad attitude in our kids it IS a reflection of our own. Funny thing though - I had that exact same kind of day yesterday. I have to admit that I have 'lurked your blog' in the past and I completely agree with the comment you left on my other blog. I also noticed that our lives and thoughts are very similar. Must be the Spirit ... one mind right? lol.
Anyway I just wanted to come out of the corner of lurkville and tell you thank you for the comment and also let you know that there have been quite a few times I've been having one of *those days, and found inspiration in your words.

With all of the toys, books and school stuff filling our home, it tends to looks as if it is void of any order. In reality we are very systematic in the way our main parts (each family member) are connected, so as to form one whole unit (our family), thus creating "organized chaos".
