Jun. 22, 2007 - "How does it feel, Mom?"
One of our favorite passtimes around here is to sit and watch the baby move, as he rolls and squirms all over in his temporary home. The kids are thrilled to see the baby poke out in all directions, and are always quite tempted to coax him along!
Yesterday afternoon, Zach asked me what it feels like when the baby moves. I gave him my standard answer, "It sort of feels the same as if you had a frog jumping around in your cupped hands, but imagine that feeling in your tummy."
He wasn't satisfied with that this time! "Okay, fill your mouth with air, hold it in, and move your tongue on the inside of your cheeks. It kinda feels like that, " I tried. "But, Mom," he replied, "my tongue isn't long enough!"
"Alright, turn around," I said. I took my elbow and rubbed it around on his back. "Now, imagine you can feel this inside your tummy." That did it... "Whoa, that feels weird!"
Uh, yup!!
How have you described the feeling of your unborn babies' movement?
