Jul. 15, 2007 - False Alarm...
I thought, for sure, that Baby was coming last night. I've been through labor FOUR times, already, you'd think I would KNOW!
Ray and I were at the movies, with my brother and sister-in-law, when I began having contractions 8-10 minutes apart. The movie was almost over (I'm talking 20 minutes left) when they became much harder and only about five minutes apart. I searched through my memories of the day to try to remember if I had kept myself hydrated... Yep, I had been drinking water and iced tea w/ lemonade all day. I had been pretty active all day, but had already been sitting for over two hours. Because this is my sixth child, the doctor told me to get to the hospital right away!
So, off we went to the hospital, still having consistent contractions, some of which were much harder than the others. I got all checked in, still having contractions, only to find out that I was only 1 centimeter dilated and hadn't even begun to efface! Uggh! After two hours, and no progression, I was sent home, STILL contracting. I was given orders to rest and take a pill that would help me sleep (and stop any contractions associated with "false labor").
I was so bummed that I ruined everybody's evening, and bummed that I didn't know better...
I'm even more bummed that we decided not to have this baby at home!!

What date did this happen? Last month? How frustrating! I take it that the contractions have stopped, and you haven't had more trouble.
I never had any contractions with Jakob, so I'm interesting in seeing if get any braxston hicks, or real contractions.... |

| I am sorry things didn't work out the way you wanted them. But how exciting for your family to have a new baby. God bless you all and continue to take care of yourself. |

| Well, sorry things didn't go like you had maybe hoped for them to last night. I wonder if I will be doing the same thing with this baby. I have had a LOT of contracting. Nothing hard enough, or steady enough to alarm me just yet, but definitely LOTS of discomfort. I have told my mom and Will that I remember doing this way with Noah. Partially so they won't worry, but truthfully, I never remember doing this MUCH with Noah. Sunday was a yucky afternoon in this regard. My doctor told me kind of the same thing as yours it sounds like, except for his words were, "The way you deliver babies, you'll be lucky to make it to the hospital!".....gee....thanks! That's VERY comforting....since we're a 30 min. drive away! I can't imagine giving birth on the turnpike! YUCK! Hope you're feeling better today! |

With all of the toys, books and school stuff filling our home, it tends to looks as if it is void of any order. In reality we are very systematic in the way our main parts (each family member) are connected, so as to form one whole unit (our family), thus creating "organized chaos".
